So I figured I would try the butter mix as a preshave.  I did not like it, and it reminded me why I do not use a pre-shave oil.  Actually it was worse than preshave oil...it felt like it slowed the razor down adding drag.

I also used Brooks Brothers shave soap, and changed up how I lathered it...I was not happy with that result either.

It all added up to a very “meh” shave.  Can’t hit every one of em out of the park!

There was one nice aspect of the shave...i liked the edge I put on the Filarmonica in the pic!

Matt

I am with you on pre-shave oil/butters.

As we know when you get the lather right - probably not a big affect [at least for me].

I do think a shower and face scrub gets the whiskers ready. And i always shave after my showers.

I have dry skin and do like the butter for post shave WITH a balm. Sounds like over kill, but i have a course beard and i kinda like the shiny newly shaved glow. So the oily post, 'me like'

Going to order my butters tonight. I have argan, glycerin, lanolin, aloe vera, witch hazel, jojoba, grapeseed, coconut oil. Going to get them mixed up to my liking with the mango-kokum-shea butter: and have some home made juice!

I mixed WK Tempest and APR Winterfall soaps.  The fragrance was fantastic, but the performance was not quite as good as either soap on its own.  Still a nice lather, and a great shave!
