FIRST SHAVE WITH THE TI ARES (The fallacy of the open comb harshness debunked)
The first thing I noticed is the weight. Not too light and not too heavy, just perfect. It made for great maneuverability during the shave. I did notice that there is a bit more blade feel than the Ti Athena, but not in a bad way. To me, it was more informative, telling me I had the right angle. I did find that the angle was a bit different with the Ti than the SS. It allowed me to use an angle closer to neutral than to steep. The next thing I noticed was that the handle felt different. The grooves were more defined and therefore more tactile. It made holding the razor a breeze in all areas of the shave. The razor just glided over my skin and allowed me to have a wonderful 3 pass shave and no buffing. The end result is a BBS shave. The maneuverability of the razor allowed for precision shaving in areas that can be problematic, under the nose and some jawline areas for me.
The real stand out observation is that, as with the other Ares razors, the teeth of the OC design had no negative impact at all. I know that many have been hesitant to purchase the Ares in any metal because it is an Open Comb razor. Other razors have been said to be extremely harsh because of the teeth of the OC plate. Some have said that the OC design is only warranted if you have several days of stubble to shave. Well, I am here to tell you that with the Lambda Ares OC format, that is all BS. The teeth are slightly rounded, allowing for a smooth contact to the face. The angle of the teeth provides for an effortless shave, taking down lots of stubble or just minimal stubble, as it did with me today. This razor can absolutely be a daily shaver. I won't get into the technical stuff, well, cause I am not smart enough to do it or even understand the variables. What I do know is that I had a wonderful shave with absolutely no issues.
Is the Ti Ares expensive, yes. Is it worth it, ABSOLUTELY. If the Ti version is out of budget, get one of the other metal Ares.
