What's a comparison in a Wr2 gap?

It has been a minute since I used it but blade feel is a 115/125. My skin feels like a 135/145 if that makes sense. The closer the cut, the softer the skin. For me anyway.

I do love the razor. I totally agree with Moriarty Mr. M's post. I can't say enough good about it. To my eye, it just oozes sexy. The matte on mirror is over the top. Mirror as good as DuFour. I like the bronze that Wolfman uses better, it is just a touch more golden. But that is a super nitpicky complaint.

I'm still wondering if there has ever been a side discharge head.

You need this razor Keith. Thank me when it is in hand and you have studied it for 15 minutes.

I find it hard to classify the blade feel of this razor. When my stubble is long I perceive significant blade feel (still smooth, but it feels like a blade-forward razor). On the second pass, with short stubble, I perceive mild blade feel. On the third pass, very little blade feel indeed. And going over smooth areas there is no blade feel at all.

In fact the razor has zero blade exposure, according to Theodoros, so what I perceive as blade feel may actually be something else. It may be something to do with the way the slots in the safety bar interact with my hair and skin. I don’t know. There’s something different about the design of this razor that I don’t fully understand yet. In the end it feels good on my face and it is as efficient as a good mid-high aggression razor, and mild on my skin - so it all works great.

Somehow this slotted safety bar system with the side channels seems to be a new and possibly superior razor head design. It has multiple advantages, from my perspective:
1. Rinsing the razor is much more effective than conventional razors, and you really can’t clog this razor
2. The side channels for water/lather evacuation prevent your hand or the handle getting wet and slippery. And the way the water shoots from the sides is incredibly satisfying and fun
3. The slots in the safety bar seem to make it shave more like an open comb razor, but because the comb is not fully open the razor feels smoother than an open comb
4. And possibly there is this phenomenon that I don’t yet understand, which seems to make the blade feel diminish with each pass - just as you would wish it to if you could adjust the blade exposure during the shave

There’s something different and interesting about this razor, and I am glad it is also made and presented to such a premium standard to do justice to the clever engineering. Possibly this razor is just better engineered than conventional razors and, for the price, it is well worth anyone interested in DE razors spending some time with it to form an opinion. I think if you get one, don’t sell it on if you feel it isn’t for you - take your time with it and it might possibly be an important razor. And I am sure Lambda razors will become more expensive in future.

I know exactly what you mean about that blade feel. I first noticed it on my WR2s I don't understand the theory, especially given a neutral exposure.

Perhaps it’s one of those tricks the brain plays, feeling lots of blade feel when there is none. I guess I’m just feeling the hair being cut or, more likely, only hearing it, and my brain interprets that sound as the feel of steel on my skin. An illusion created by the brain so that things appear to us in a way that fits our expectations.

It’s like smoking. If you smoke then probably the reason you do it is because you enjoy the sensation of inhaling smoke. But, actually, try smoking in complete darkness, or with your eyes closed, and you will find suddenly that you can barely feel you are inhaling anything. It turns out that smoking is mainly a visual thing, and your brain just creates the feeling of smoke being drawn into your lungs to match what you see. You aren’t actually feeling what you believe you are feeling.

I may be wrong about this phenomenon with the razor; I can’t really say. Perhaps I should do an experiment of shaving with ear plugs in to see whether I still perceive as much blade feel. But the human brain is a marvellously untrustworthy and unreliable tool, and one shouldn’t rely on the brain when it comes to something as important as reviewing a razor.

James you've got me debating with myself about this one.

I checked and The Razor Company have the Lambda razors in route and should have them late next week.

It really is a great razor. I've already been pestering Theodoros about making some more ares for a bit more efficiency, he keeps saying later in the year. The razor is surprisingly efficient but still a comfortable shaver. I rinse and wipe mine down with a microfiber cloth after every shave and there is barely any patina. One small spot on the baseplate where I missed a drop and it dried on there. The polish still looks great.

A generous member that I will leave anonymous unless he wants to out himself loaned me this BEAUTIFUL Razor to try out. I have the H&S .83 from the pass around and it will be hard not sneaking a shave in with this work of art between my trying the pass razor. This thing is even prettier in person.....
