I hear you. To think how much I paid for Martin de Candre, Santa Maria Novella, Nuavia, and even Saponificio Varesino back in the day. All of my top 10 favorite artisans outperform each of them, now.
I agree! Its crazy how good shaving soap has become and, save for some LEs, how easily accessible at a reasonable price it is.

What really floored me wasn't the sell out. I wish these two the best especially after my whole den has converted to their stuff. What sucks is that Scott posted he has no plans to run the soap again.
I could just run unscented bison with the provisions but I'm OCD with matching sets now. Not having the soap especially with that new base has kept me from ordering the salve, AS and toner.

May be, may be there could be a rerun. Just my assumption. At a premium.

I suspect that Scott will reconsider his position on re-issuing Icarus after he sees the market response to this new product. It's wise to manage expectations by claiming one-release-only, so if for any reason he doesn't want to do it again (production issues, cost, supplier issues, etc.), the customer base won't be further disappointed. And if the market doesn't respond well to it, he doesn't have a bunch of inventory to unload. If the reviews are good, he can sit down and think about replacing his regular soap base, carrying two soap bases, using one base for limited editions, etc.

I also hope that Scott reconsiders and makes his Icarus base permanent. I just shaved with the Santal Auster and liked it tremendously. I would even say that I liked it more than Scot's original bison tallow base.
