Hey friends,

I am a newbie to wet shaving and straight razors. I bought a Ralf Aust a couple weeks back,
got some Proraso green and a Parker badger brush and now I'm hooked. I live in Yokohama,
Japan but work in Tokyo. Recently, I bought a Kanayama strop at the workshop where they
are made in Tokyo. I am hooked on Japanese razors at the moment, with a Tanifuji Maxfli-Gold
being my current favorite. I certain have a lot to learn but my first forays into the wet-shaving
world did not result in too many weepers (ATG is still a tough proposition). In any case,
glad to meet everyone.

Welcome to DFS. I hope to learn lots about the wet shaving scene in Japan. As for the weepers, the alum block is your friend while you work your way up to ATG passes. Give it time, and alum and you’ll be fine.

Thank you, Mark. Today's weepers were mostly the result of my switching from a rounded tip to a square tip. That square tip caught me a few times!
However I am enjoying the process and getting some smooth shaves. I was in Hawaii on business recently and could not find a high street retailer for
an alum block but I grabbed a potassium alum antiperspirant and deodorant stick at Whole Foods that fit the bill. It even came in a nice case holder.
