Karve - Unpopular Opinion

Thanks for reply my First Language is Croatian followed by German which I lost most of by arriving to Canada in 1997. In Croatia as kid we learned Italian and German language in schools.

I knew some  English upon arriving to Canada and learned that language too as it’s essential here and work trying to make best out of it as new immigrant.

And now learning French as my wife is from Gatineau and I want learn and able to communicate with my two young kids and family at least I’ll do my Best.

Now I’m sorry if I do reply quick here on posts etc.. as I’m trying to put some things on DFS and share with community which I don’t have too..but I do cause I love my hobby and I do have high passion towards it and lots of greats FOLKS here on DFS.

Thanks. I was initially thinking French (like Marko) due to your location, but for some reason that didn’t seem right as I was reading your posts. I’m always so amazed and impressed by people like yourself who learn to read and speak multiple languages fluently. I took a few compulsory years of Spanish way back in high school and that was hard enough for me!

Before switching careers in 2002 to become a community pharmacist, I taught high school chemistry, physics, and general science to shiny faced, bright eyed pupils in Michigan and here in Maine.  In 1996 or 1997, I had in my physics class an exchange student from Sao Paulo, Brazil.  He was a great kid, outgoing, friendly, and fun to have in class. This was a senior level class. One day he was asking about something we were covering, and was having a little difficulty with words and pronunciations.  One of the other students made some comment about poor English or something similar, meant more to draw laughs from the class than genuinely insult my Brazilian student. But I could tell this exchange student was hurt by the comment.  However, he rallied, and asked, in impeccable English, "what do you call someone who speaks 3 languages?" Trilingual, various classmates said. "And if someone speaks 2 languages?" Bilingual, was the response. "And if only 1 language?" Well, monolingual said the culprit who had poked fun at the exchange student. "No," was the response, "American."

As Whisk-her Away posted, I, too, hold deep respect for folks who took the time to learn other languages. It is something I believe I should do, but as there is no necessity currently in my location, finding the motivation is difficult.

You are not alone. I found that as the plates increase, the blade feel increases but efficiency does not. I really do not understand and their popularity.

My thoughts exactly. A friend let me borrow his with the E plate about a year ago. Looking back at my notes, I said "feels way more blade forward than the ATT H1, but isn't nearly as efficient."

I remember it feeling dangerous without actually cutting the hair.

I really wanted to like the Karve. It is beautifully made. Just threading the handle on was impressive - such a smooth and perfect fit. I have the short and long handles, two caps, and SB plates C, D, E, and F. I should probably try an OC-E, but I’ve already spent way too much on it.

For me, the Blackbird OC is the one I always reach for on date nights, and it now owns most workdays as well.

Agreed C plate is fantastic for every 2nd day shave superb pair with Tiger - Platinums or Tatra your set

And I’m a mild shaver I used plate AA, A, B, I did struggle a bit till got plate C just phenomenal shave..
