I think you should probably move on from it. Plenty of good razors it there and even some of the most beloved razors have not worked out for me.

I am very much like the OP. I have tried SB D,E,F and OC C,D,E & F. By the time I got a good 3 pass shave the shave was not comfortable for me, if I chose comfort I could not get a good shave consistently.

I have successfully used the brass SB, OC, and SS SB & OC with E, F, and G plates. It isn't as nice a shave for me as a Wolfman, Charcoal Goods, or Blackbird, but any of the aforementioned plates, in either brass or SS give me a comfortable BBS in my standard two pass WTG/ATG. YMMV obviously  Smile

I started with SB-B and hated the blade feel -- felt harsh. Grabbed the SB-A and SB-AA plates and I'm a big fan of both. Now, it's just autopilot.

One think I noticed is that the shaving angle is biased more toward riding the cap.

Scentsless Shaver
Oakland, ME
The CB Karve became The One for me. But I could never get a Fatip to work with me, while many said it was so smooth and efficient. We each have our own Best for our face. In any case, life is too short for bad shaves! I predict it will sell fast on the BST, should you post it there. Good luck to you, and may you have many great shaves!

The blade angle is fairly steep at Karve razors.
The blade is clamped almost flat .
That kind of steep blade angle asks for a quite
shallow angle of attack ,if a smooth shave is wished.Kinda of  “old-school” shaving .
Try keeping the elbow of the hand holding the razor upwards ,while riding the cap .
Had quite a few of Karve razors with different
plates on the aggressive end ( D,E oc ,F oc,G) and I can say that while I thought that they were of the smoothest razors, acquiring the
RR GC 0.84-P made me realise that no they
are not smooth.
Actually I sold or given away all of the rest
razors of my den
( Timeless,Tatara,Muhle,Fatip,Karve,etc)
since I do not anymore wish to shave with anything else ,other than the RR GC 0.84-P ( SB & OC ).

My thoughts exactly. The Karve was smooth for me with D-F plates, but not as smooth as the 0.84 GC, definitely ATG. The shave results were not any better either so I sold it. No point in using a razor that just isn't as good for variety's sake.

I bought the D and E plates. I used the E plate once. Cleaned it, boxed it, sold it. It was a decent shaver but it was obvious it wasn't going to replace anything I already had.

I'm starting to lean this way as well.  I have a lot of razors but really only enjoy using a few.  To the OP's point, if it's not shaving well...maybe it's time to move it along to someone who will enjoy it

I did not get on with the Karve, as well, as the shaves weren't the smoothest, for some reason. I tried all of the SB plates, but none could replicate the shaves I get with my Blackbirds and Charcoal Goods L3.
Just move on from it and keep using the razor(s) that suit you.
