Update to my #E plate.
I asked Karve (email) if the stainless #E SB was in stock and ready to ship.
They replied, "Yes, in stock" (7th April 2020).
I immediately ordered and paid (7th April).
No email saying "Plate sent" by the 21st April.
I asked "what's up"?
No reply. On 24th April I asked again and said..."Guys, I haven't heard from you...and I'm guessing that there never was an #E SB stainless plate in stock at all, when I asked...."
28th April I receive..."We always have stuff in stock, there's just a lag on the finishing of the parts".
Today 30th April I receive email that #E plate is being sent.
So, Karve works on the basis that something is 'in stock' when it is actually made (the raw machined part)...but it's not yet finished.
That 'finishing' obviously takes time.
To me something is not 'in stock' until it is 'showroom ready' and a customer can just buy it immediately.
I like my stainless Karve razor. I have #C and #D SB plates already, and now 'should' have an #E SB arriving soon.
I hope the #E is what I want. If I really need an #F then I can see another long wait ahead.
But anyway...my main point being how Karve see an item as being 'in stock', and how we customers view an item as being 'in stock'.
I will update again when the plate arrives.

It's weird, to us, because the rest of the retail world doesn't operate like this. Again, they are either clueless or they just don't give a s**t.

They truly don’t give a s**t as you say. They may be a bit clueless too but not to the point where they can’t realize it’s wrong to take people’s money without delivering the product that customers are expecting and already paid for.  That’s just blatantly not concerning themselves with the customer, the same as not responding to emails, things that have been evident from the start with Karve. It doesn’t matter what razor they produce, it doesn’t matter how many people they hire... They will continue to display this because customer service is not a priority... And again, it won’t be a priority until customers stand up and demand change. Very simply, if you want Karve to change, people need to stop buying from them and they need to voice that.... the more people that do this, the sooner it will get their attention, which will increase the likelihood of change. At this point (and prior to this), they have no reason to change because they can resume their terrible customer service and loyal customers will still continue to buy from them. The moment that changes, is when Karve will change.

I found out about the whole it’s in stock but not really ready as it hasn’t gone through the finishing process and thought what the heck. I may be misremembering it but saw it on a YouTube video called Razor Burn. It’s also a Podcast under the same name.  It features Jack who works for Karve along with Heather from Zingari man.

They are all quite long and do contain adult language if you happen to be listening to it around kids. Episode 4 is with Chris Kirchen. I believe HoosierShave mentioned the Razor Burn podcast on another thread as well.

I have listened to a couple of them with the whole extra time due to Covid19.
I am not associated with any company or person involved.  I just remembered it when DiggaDog mentioned the in stock but not ready to ship in stock. Confused2  

I remember when I ordered my Brass Karve and it taking what I thought was a long time back then. Can’t believe they have the balls to do what they are doing now. I would be ticked if I was waiting on a razor and they are introducing new items that they must be working on instead of the one I was waiting for.

for what its worth, they mentioned recently that the plates going out to anodizing were made in the fall. There is a pic on IG around that time of raw stock waiting for anodizing. Based on an exchange I had during the Jan AMA, I am inclined to believe that the available plates are those that sell the best meaning you might be waiting a while depending on what gap you are looking for.

the relevant part is about half way through IIRC. It is quite a head scratcher because they then say the bottleneck is the finishing. Also goes along with what I was told during the last AMA.....given all the different plates it is hard to keep stock on hand. CNC is fast, finishing is slow, and as a result finishing often happens as orders come in.

Soooooo, I reached out via email today to find out when the higher gap
Aluminum plates would be available. I got an immediate response which shocked me. They had an F SB aluminum plate left from the old stock. I was asked via email if I wanted to order the whole aluminum razor and I said no, just that plate because I already have the brass and the stainless razors with all of the higher gap plates. I just really want the higher gap plates in aluminum because they look cool with the stainless top cap and handle. Anyway, I said I wanted that plate and they sent me an I voice for it and I paid it. Now we will see if it ships right away. Stay tuned.
