Karve Shaving Co. A new DE Brass razor to market.

I have been using an E and F plate and the shaves are descent but not extraordinarily better than my other razors. The one thing I find annoying is the head clogs easily and rinsing lather from the head is a pain. I use Tabac soap for most shaves and the lather seems to stick to the brass head more than say a chrome plated or stainless razor. Any suggestions on fixing this?

What are your other razors? And if you experience clogging, do you use preshave oil? I find that clogging is usually solved by adding more water to the lather. Now if you use preshave oil, no amount of water may help, particularly on the first pass.

Besides the Karve I have a Slim, Progress and Ikon X3 slant. No shave oil is being used. I will add more water to thin the lather the next time I use it. Thanks

I think given that you don't use preshave oil, more water should help. On the shave with E and F plates not being extraordinarily better than with your current razors...the ones you use are generally known to be pretty mild (some of them very mild). The E and F plates are the most aggressive plates on the Karve and have some intimidating blade gap. I really think for you, the C plate would be the right plate with a D plate thrown in on days where the BBS just HAS to go a really long distance.

A friend on another forum polished my Karve razor and it looks great. I did not notice any difference in glide like some people mentioned but it was a very smooth shave to start.

My Karve hasn’t arrived yet, but I’ve found that some citric acid in the water helps the soap rinse a lot easier. It’s typically sold with other home canning goods (food grade). I run a basin full of hot water, and add a tablespoon or so of the powder (not measured, just pour some in my palm). I have very hard limestone water, so the acid helps neutralize it - ymmv.

C Plate yesterday and D Plate today. Now that I have a good number of shaves under my belt, I think this is my smoothest razor in the den. Just a joy to use.

Can you post a photo of the C and D plates next to each other? Another poster received a C labeled plate he said was identical to his D.

You won't be able to notice any visual differences except for the letters, themselves. I have plates C, D, E, and F and I can barely see a difference between the C and D plates even when they are assembled with the top cap and handle. However, when shaving with them, then you do notice that they are not similar.

That's strange because I actually find that it's ability to shift the suds aside, to be one of its best features.

The Blackbirds are my most effective and used razors, but my Webers are the most comfortable.
I am undecided on the Karve razor as I have plates C, D, E and F, and, although all of the plates are quite smooth, plates E & F are the most effective, for me, but I don't find them as comfortable as my Blackbirds, which I prefer more, for some reason.
I can't explain it and see it only as a subjective thing.
