Does anyone know if there was some kind of sequence to the ordering process as I was under the impression that the individual plates were in stock and would be delivered, right away? I wasn't expecting such a lengthy delay as it has been almost three weeks since placing my order.

I am quite intrigued to see how they shave after all of these comments. Shy

What plate do you have now?

C & D plates, but I mainly use the D plate for face shaves and the C plate + Muhle top cap for head shaves (don't ask why, but this combo just works brilliantly for my head shaves). Smile

I ordered an alternate razor with the E & F plates on May 9th.

I believe there were a limited amount of the E & F plates available, and if remember correctly I think Chris was sending them out in the order that they were received.

He also stated " I was bombarded with an unexpected rush of orders because of the release of the E and F plates." in an email to me, ( I wasn't enquiring about my order it was just a comment he made).

He also stated in I think an email sent out on May 18th to all who ordered,

"I blew through my inventory and I’ve ramped up production to compensate. This past week was spent making a big batch of handles and I'm currently wrapping up a big batch of top caps. I’m also making guards now, which is the missing component for most orders. Once I start producing finished guards, I can begin fulfilling the pending orders. Progress is steady and I’ll stay on it until I catch up.

It looks like the bulk of orders will be fulfilled by the mid to late next week. "

Hope that helps.

Well, I can see now why the Karve razor has been receiving such excellent reviews. My first use, this morning, was with the D plate. I'll use the more aggressive F plate for my next shave, however, here are my initial thoughts.
This razor has a very nice heft and one notices immediately on loading a blade, the quality of the thread. It's so precise and smooth, I'd say it's on par with that of a Wolfman.
I'm going to compare the D plate with my other favourite DE razors, namely Timeless 0.95 OC, Wolfman 0.74 OC and Blackbird SB. The Karve has the smoothness and blade feel(or lack of) of the Timeless, but doesn't quite match its efficiency. This is an extremely smooth shaver and I believe it would be ideal in daily use. The efficiency is more along the lines of the Wolfman, possibly even the 0.67 gap version. The Blackbird is more efficient, IMO.
I am very impressed after only first use. I opted for the 3.5 inch handle and now wish I had gone with the 3 inch option. No big deal, though. That can be ordered later if I want to.
Looking forward to using the F plate now.

I've been on the fence about this razor for a while. I want to try it out, but I'm concerned about the lack of blade feel that I keep reading. How is the blade feel compared to the Wolfman? I don't need to blade feel of the Blackbird, but I do like to feel the blade when I shave. The main reason I don't like vintage Gillettes is because of the lack of blade feel, so if it's anything like that, I know I won't like it.

For years my schedule has been to skip 4-5 day’s between shaves. My work doesn’t require me to be cleaned shaved and the misses likes the look of short stubble. I currently use Feather blades with a Gillette Slim set all the way to “9”. My Irish beard grows fast/thick and the Slim makes quick work of it with only two passes needed.
I’m anxiously waiting for a 3” handle and F plate to arrive. Does anyone think I made a mistake going with the most aggressive plate or is it probably what I need to mow down multiple day’s worth of stubble in two passes? Thanks to those who have previously posted pics and reviews.

You did the right thing. I ordered the E plate and previously had the D plate. Fantastic shavers. Worse comes to worse you can always sell the F plate for a less aggressive plate which they are many to choose from.

I've yet to use the F plate, but the Wolfman 0.74 OC has more blade feel than the D plate.
Lack of blade feel can lead to a false sense of security, IMO. I personally prefer the Blackbird over the Timeless for this reason.

David, nice report!

Your spot on about the threading. It really threads down like my Wolfman .74 but maybe even better. No play and so smooth. The 3 pieces connect like butter.

I was initially worried a month ago about ordering the 3’ handle thinking it might be a tad short but it’s the absolute perfect size/fit for this razors design. Very agile and nimble.

As mentioned above by slantman no mistakes by going with an aggressive plate. One can always dial the Karve back with the B/C/D.

My Mergress and Parker Variant are gone and now have no interest in the REX. Too many moving parts and fussing around. The Karve’s interchangeable baseplates are a wonderful way to adjust with a build quality that’s unmatched.
