Karve Shaving Co. A new DE Brass razor to market.

I was bored and decided to hand polish my Karve razor today.

Very nice! If I may ask, what method/tools did you use? (I'm thinking about polishing a razor head or two.)

Thanks for all the kind words fellas, it really did turn out to look like a completely different razor and I absolutely love the looks of it right now.

First I aged the razor using (Brass Ager) from Amazon. The reason for this was so that the pattern on the handle would have some depth once polished. Then I attacked it with some 0000 polishing steel wool making sure that you always go in the same direction on any part your polishing with it. The more you polish with the steel wool the better the end results. At this stage it already looked awesome and I contemplated leaving it here but then I said what the hell and reached for some metal polish (the original magic mix) also from Amazon and a microfiber towel. I chose not to use the Dremel on this project because like I said before, I had some extra time on my hands but I reckon you can use it for the final compound polish for quicker results. I also left the patina underneath the bottom plate for depth as well.

Superbly done and the razor has a completely different look.

Well there’s another thing to add to my to do list. That looks amazing, well done

Well feeling inspired by mdwolfie86 I decided to check this off my list sooner rather than later. Plain matte look so dull now a night and day transformation with a bit of work on a Sunday. The top cap still has a bit of texture but I wasn’t in a hurry to do any sanding today, I may down the road

It came out great! It makes you appreciate the design so much more this way IMO, but I understand some don’t care for the maintenance on polished brass or bronze, I don’t mind it though.

The polish looks good, but I like the original finish as well. I would be scared that I would mess it up if I tried to polish it.

My Karve finally came in (after about 2.5 weeks working through the USPS network) and I had my first shave with it today. Another satisfied customer! I am indebted to those who took the first leap and shared their experiences. I learned a great deal from reading everyones’ first impressions on this thread.  Thank you! This is a great razor and one I think I’ll use regularly for a very long time.

I purchased the B and C plates with a 3” handle. Today I used the B plate with one of my go-to blades (GSB) and GroomingDept After The Fire (one of my favorite soaps). Everything just clicked and I had a great irritation-free, 3 pass shave, that was close and smooth. Couldn’t be happier.

For background, my daily drivers before this were an EJ89 clone and a Tech. I was a little hesitant to purchase this razor because I got into DE shaving to save money, and this razor was a little more than I thought I would ever spend, but now that I shaved with it I’m glad I did.

Awesome to hear you love your razor. It really is an excellent performer and with a nice price tag for what is more of a premium razor. Great choice, enjoy in good health.

It polished quite easily and it’s not plated so there’s no chance you can burn it and go through the plating. I did not polish the bottom of the top cap or the top of the base plates so the mating/contact with blade points are unchanged even if it would be microns. But I’m also fortunate that I bought one for my wife so I still have an unpublished one in the house

Thanks, this was very helpful! I have a few items that could use some polishing, and if the results are half as amazing as yours, I’ll be happy.
