Karve Shaving Co. A new DE Brass razor to market.

Mine should finally arrive tomorrow, looking forward to giving this one a try.

2 shaves in and my initial thoughts are It is a good looking razor with nice balance and weight. I really like the knurling  on the handle. The first 2 shaves using a Gillette red stainless blade and plate D are very good, not great. More blade feel than my Timeless .95 and not quite as efficient but I am still working on the angle. No nicks, cuts or irritation. In defense of this razor I am just coming off 2 weeks of using the 17-4 Paradigm which is super smooth.  I want to give this razor a good 2 weeks before I decide if it’s a keeper but it sure looks and feels nice especially at the price.

Looking to hear how the Karve compares to the Paradigm.  I just ordered the Karve.  Hopefully it will find a suitable place in my rotation and the desire for something else will subside.

Is there any blade movement with this razor? I like how blades fit snuggly in my timeless and I’m hoping that blade alignment or movement won’t be an issue with this razor.

I don't find any movement with the blades. It is a very snug fit.

I'm observing this thread carefully. I use a Timeless .95, which I enjoy as one of my "milder" razors that can still deliver a great shave. (I'm more inclined to go with "aggressive" razors.) I have both a Karve and a Paradigm 17-4 on order. I like reading about the blade-forwardness of the Karve, but am concerned about its efficiency. I also like reading about the efficiency of the Paradigm, although I worry about its "smoothness" (which means "inability-to-deliver-a-close-shave" in my lexicon). I guess I'll find out!

In my humble opinion I feel if you enjoy the .95 Timeless you will enjoy the smoothness and the efficiency of the Paradigm 17-4
I can't tell you anything about the Karve but from what I'm reading I would love to hear your feedback but for now I am passing on it

I'll keep you posted! I suspect that I will wish that Karve made an E plate, as the D plate won't be efficient enough. At least that's what I think about my other adjustables (Slim--why didn't they go to "11"?--Variant, Supply, Rockwell 6S...), except for the Charcoal Goods Level 3. I'll never try the CG Level 1 or 2, as I know the Level 3 is the top end of an adjustable that actually meets my needs. When I spoke with Brian at Charcoal about whether the Level 3 was efficient enough, he assured me that he tried to amp it up from there, but couldn't create a plate 4 that wouldn't chew up my face. That was good enough endorsement for the Level 3, in my book. And he was right. We'll see with the Karve.

Perfect! I’ve got the 3.5” handle with B and C plates on their way and I’m already considering purchasing the D plate before the rest even arrive. I love the look of brass. Also, I saw that you recently decided to put your Blackbird OC plate up for trade. Wasn’t your cup of tea?

I like the CG Level 1 and 2, Wolfman .61, Weber DLC for frame of reference. I only ordered the B plate with the razor. Not sure if I should even bother with a C plate. I'm sure curiosity will get the best of me and cost me more money lol. The craftmanship of the razor is top notch. and at the listed price point; it's a steal. As a Canadian, I can say that I'm proud that another quality razor is being manufactured in Canada! I'm going to give this a good two weeks worth of shaves to decide if I go with a C plate. I would love to hear from others about their experiences with the C Plate.

I prefer SB razor heads to the OC ones.

Carmine, I don't find Plate C to be that aggressive. In fact, I find it very similar to my Weber DLC. Possibly, a tiny bit more 'efficient/aggressive', but it doesn't seem so. However, this is all very subjective, but I think you should just get Plate C as that would allow you another level of efficiency and the price is extremely reasonable.

Tried mine today! Quite impressive for a 100 dollar solid brass razor. Hard to compare to plate b as I ordered plate c.. Very smooth and efficient. If you are on the fence, get one.
For the money it is a great value.
