Everyone is different. I use the 17-4, Timeless .95 OC in stainless, Wolfman WR1 OC .74, Blackbird OC and Karve with a D plate, among others. Only the Blackbird is capable of giving me a truly close, long-lasting shave, in my hand. I enjoy the others—don’t get me wrong—but efficiency is my primary razor goal.
For example, I’m currently on a 14-day daily binge with my PAA DOC Evo in stainless, which is more “aggressive” on my face than any of the five I named. Perhaps my leathery old face is more tolerant than most, but I look forward to seeing if the Karve F plate falls within my “efficiency elite.”
If I were to rate the mentioned razors in order of efficiency: Blackbird, 17-4, Timeless, Wolfman and Karve. But they are all very nice shaves.
