Everyone is different. I use the 17-4, Timeless .95 OC in stainless, Wolfman WR1 OC .74, Blackbird OC and Karve with a D plate, among others. Only the Blackbird is capable of giving me a truly close, long-lasting shave, in my hand. I enjoy the others—don’t get me wrong—but efficiency is my primary razor goal.

For example, I’m currently on a 14-day daily binge with my PAA DOC Evo in stainless, which is more “aggressive” on my face than any of the five I named. Perhaps my leathery old face is more tolerant than most, but I look forward to seeing if the Karve F plate falls within my “efficiency elite.”

If I were to rate the mentioned razors in order of efficiency: Blackbird, 17-4, Timeless, Wolfman and Karve. But they are all very nice shaves.

In preparation for the use of the new base plates, I decided to use a tarnishing cloth on my top cap to give it a slight shine. When I got this result after about a 10 minute rub and then a 5 minute buffing with an old t-shirt, I decided to do the handle too. Love the look of the results and I like the contrast of the dull baseplate with the shiny top cap and handle.[Image: 8652520888d471038b65dbaa6e8830ab.jpg][Image: da8e1a6e196e0f3c8c51c0e98c088a24.jpg][Image: 012ec458c645df3872599979d93bb669.jpg]
Not the best pics but you get the gist of it.

Looks really nice George. I like the contrast. I have been drying and taking care of mine but 3 weeks in the top cap patina is starting it’s magical journey.

I’m still amazed at the build quality of the razor and the guilloche pattern of the handle. Everything about the handle, it’s weight and dimensions have made it a favorite.

Yep, the handle alone makes it an absolute favorite and after shining the handle, it looks absolutely amazing!!

My SOTD with a couple close ups of the F plate loaded with a Feather blade just like I use with the D plate. Wish me luck!

Just finished and my first statement is WOW!! I did my usual 2.5 pass and the new F plate delivers in spades!! I thought I would have to change my blade to a PolSilver like I use in my Charcoal Goods L3 but this razor is so smooth that the Feather was fine. A bit more blade feel than the D plate but the efficiency goes way up. Extremely close BBS. The razor ranks neck and neck with my Charcoal Goods L3 as number 1 amongst my DE Collection now as far as efficiency and finish. I actually put it a notch ahead because of how smooth it was. No nicks or weepers and as of right now, no irritation!! Chris hit this one out of the park. I don’t consider it overly aggressive but wow does it perform!! Almost makes me not want to dial it down a bit to try the E plate. My rank for DE razors from 1 to 10 are as follows now.
1) Karve with the F plate
2) Charcoal Goods L3 DC
3) Timeless .95 DC
4) Wolfman .74 (standard gap) DC
5) Blackbird OC
6) Tradere OC
7)PAA SS Evolution
8) Razorock Titanium BabySmooth
9) Weber PH
10) Razorock Black Mamba

Just my opinion from what I own guys!!
