Currently looking for a new razor that can rival the Rockwell 6S (baseplate 4). I really like the minimal blade feel with high efficiency of the 6S. Having read through this thread, it seems like the Overlander might be a good contender (very smooth with good efficiency). For those of you who have one and been using it for awhile, would the Overlander be a good contender?

I used the 6s with a 3 plate quite a lot early on. If my memory is correct, the Overlander is more efficient than that. I didn't use the 4 plate enough to have any lasting impression.

It's one of the smoothest razors I've used for sure. It's definitely on par with the Gamechanger there.

Another common razor comparison... It's smoother than the GC for me, with either plate. Probably an efficiency closer to the 84.

Hope this is somewhat helpful.

It has been years since I had a Rockwell, and it was the 6C. I stayed with 4 and 5. Like mrdoug, I believe the Overlander gives a closer shave and just as smooth. But again, years ago, so no direct comparison is available from me.

I'd say they're pretty similar, yes.

The Overlander reminds me a lot of the Rockwell 6S. The feel is the same. Plate 4 is very close to the Overlander in terms of aggressiveness and efficiency. The Overlander has a sleeker head profile, but the Rockwell is stainless.

Thanks and I appreciate the offer TommyCarioca!  But having read through the thread I really felt like this would be a good contender and ordered one last weekend.  To the best of recollection, it is the 1st razor I've purchased in nearly 2 years.  It arrived yesterday afternoon and I was able to get a shave in this morning.  Stubble Daddy is right...this is very similar to the 6S with plate 4...very smooth (even with a 3rd-use Kai blade) and efficient.  Three passes and a bit of cleanup gave me a BBS shave with zero irritation.  The Overlander is going to get a lot of use over the next couple months since it and the 6S are the only two razors available to me.  If it remains as smooth/efficient as it was on the first shave, I will have my new "travel" razor!
