Kai blade

It is a blank steel plate without any trademark. It is a mystery to me.
On efficient razor with big gap, it is sharp and smooth, no harsh. This is in line with the comments on the forum.
I used it on my wolfman razor WR2 1.15 and my friend used it on the Karve with F plate.
But On mild razor, there is a feeling of inferior blades, a feeling of pulling, not cut well. Somewhat comfused

Don't be confused. Blades tend to work best in specific razors.

I have a range of razors from very mild (VDH/Weishi TTO) to quite aggressive Muhle R41 with a number in between. With milder razors, I like the very sharpest blades. With aggressive/efficient  razors, I like very smooth, less sharp blades.  

According to the review of the Kai blade on the Refined Shave web site, the Kai blade falls into the less sharp category, at least on the first shave.

Thus, a new blade would be well suited  to a WR2 or Karve F plate. The F plate might be even more aggressive than the WR2 which has a wide blade gap, but negative blade exposure. The Karve F has a wide blade gap and a positive blade exposure.


On a milder razor, you may need to use a sharper blade. My favorites for a mild razor are BIC chrome platinum, Gillette Permasharp Super, Gillette Nacet, 7 O'Clock Super Platinum black, Personna Platinum Israeli Red, Dorco Prime Platinum, and Supermax Blue Diamond platinum. These are super sharp blades. 

I tend to start my shave with an efficient open comb razor with mid sharp blade to mow down my beard growth. I will use a mid-aggressive razor with an even sharper blade for the XTG and ATG passes. My clean-up pass will be done with a mild razor with super sharp blade.  The key is finding the right combination of blade(s) and razor(s) that work best for you.

I love Kai blades but that doesn't mean you will. And no, they are not marked with the brand name of anything else. Also, they are a tiny bit wider than most blades, which means they stick out of the razor just a bit farther. As RayClem suggested, try it in a few different razors.

I love Kai. For me, it carries sharpness just below a feather with smoothness of a Nacet / Silver Blue. It works really nicely for me in mild razors.

Interesting you posted this. I used a Kai for its first use on a C plate in a Karve and has a great shave. I used it today on a B plate and it was not good. It felt rough and did tug.

So yes, like all blades, its very specific to not only the razor, but also the User!

I like the Kai in specific razors too - its an expensive blade and, in my opinion the combination of expensive and the fact that it comes unmarked blade in unmarked wrapper makes it prone to counterfeit.  I'll only buy it from a trusted vendor in a sealed Kai branded box.  Still not 100% guarantee its authentic but as good as I can get.  I once bought from an Amazon vendor and I received a ziplock baggie with a bunch of loose unmarked blades in unmarked wrappers.  I didn't find those to work very well even in the razors that I know Kai works in for me.  I think they were fakes.
