Gents,

A Thiers Issard Spartacus caught my eye as having some potential, and so I made an offer on it.

I talked to the lady, and apparently her boyfriend was a barber who was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, and he died four months later.  This razor sat in storage for just over ten years, and she said that she was finally ready to pass it along to someone who would use and enjoy it.

Here was the seller’s pictures:

It arrived today, and as I was gently cleaning off the oil/wax which had been on the blade for the last 10+ years, I couldn’t help but think how this fellow must have carefully applied the oil/wax, and lovingly wrapped his razor knowing that he would not have an opportunity to ever use it again.

It took a bit, but I grew more and more excited as I saw what was emerging from under the protectant.

A minty 7/8 Thiers Issard Spartacus razor with worked spine, and rams horn scales!  It has the lightest of tarnish on the front near the toe, and a very light spot in the back...easily fixable with a q-tip and flitz...however, I am going to leave it...marking this razor’s story.

The razor is magnificent, it has a thin and even bevel near the edge, and it closes dead center!  I am grateful to have acquired this, and it is my first TI razor.

Vr

Matt

Good purchase.
The GC .84 displaced Weber PH as my daily razor.  I prefer it over the .95 Lupo.

Nice Jeff, I like both my MK1 and MK2 but the 2 is my favorite. I know you prefer the 1 but that's pretty one there.

Plating is unbelievable condition given that there was still a carbon blade in the head. Looks like it was used once.

Received a Razorock BabySmooth in the mail today. Wanted to revisit this razor, and a friend was kind enough to send me one he had sitting around.

The razor is cleaned, blade is loaded, and it's ready for tomorrow's shave. [Image: c815a7bd0a8035ddff722b2465ed7d19.jpg]
