Hmmm. From what I can tell, the bumps look like they are emerging in clusters where the skin has been most closely shaved, and around longer hairs that are laying flat against the skin. Barring irritated skin that is simply allergic to blades, this means that the bumps are likely to be caused by any combination of three technique issues:

1. Shaving at an angle that is too aggressive (such that you are slightly digging under the skin, which will trap hairs and cause ingrowns/bumps/redness)
2. Buffing of the same spot too many times without slickness remaining (probably because you see or feel those longer hairs that are laying flat, and want to be rid of them)
3. Too much pressure as you are dragging the razor across the skin (there should be no pressure at all, which is tough to do on that angle of the neck - it took me two years to get this right)

Keep an eye on these things on your next shave and see if that makes a difference. If your technique is flawless, switching products one at a time might solve the issue.

allergic to blades..haven't seen that one before!!

thanks for the continued help! question..shall I continue to shave every 2-3 days or let the redness/bumps subside before hitting it with a blade again? my plan was to shave Tuesday night before heading to bed...

here's some photos from Monday afternoon, almost exactly 2 days after my last shave:

That depends on your goal, but I think shaving more often might help, not only because it will help your skin acclimate to the act of shaving, but also because it will help you sooner adjust for the bump issues. Your 2-3 day irritation looks better than mine looked when I first started, and much better than some others. If it doesn't feel excessively painful or significantly raised (with the bumps), I'd consider hitting it again soon.

I didn't realize how much the skin can acclimate until I started shaving more often. Switching to an every other day routine made a big difference in the severity of my irritation issues, and now that I shave daily I very rarely get severe redness/irritation issues.

When you are shaving more often and beginning to solve these issues through technique adjustments, it's important to note that you might even get more irritation for a small period of time. Stick with it for a few weeks before discarding the new changes - it takes time for your skin to adjust. It took a couple of months for my skin to thicken since switching to a daily routine. Now I don't get nearly as many weepers as I did when I first started shaving daily.

Anyway, just be extra careful in shaving your neck, note the technique issues I mentioned in my previous post, focus on generating a slick lather in that area, and be conscious of the process. If you feel even the slightest bit of razor drag or lack of smoothness, you might have an issue either with your lathering technique or with your software itself.

I'm probably going to shave tonight. I'll likely give my ATT S2 a go. I'll have to see what sharper DE blades I have in my stash...I'm fairly confident I don't have any feathers. any other recommendations? I know I have an abundance of Astra SP blades..

KAI? Personna Medical Preps?

andrewjs18, for the ATT S2 the best blades I've found (for me anyway) are the Personna Israeli Blue blades, followed closely by the Astras. The Personna's provide a great combination of consistent smoothness and sharpness. Astras are close but a smidge imprecise (you might nick yourself every now and then), while the Feathers are extremely sharp and unforgiving. I'd start out with something other than a Feather if you are interested in using them later on down the road.

I don't think so - I bought these blades from Amazon some time ago. I believe they are Israeli made Personna blues.

They are the most comfortable blades for me in both the S1 and S2.

thanks. I don't believe I have any of those, although I'll have to check my stash to confirm first. I know I have the personna med prep and astra sp blades.

Those are Israeli Personna Red Pack blades, I believe.  In tucks of 10 they are as you show them here, Peter (NeoXerxes).  However, in the 5 tuck they are packaged in the traditional red box-https://duckduckgo.com/?q=israeli+person...SL160_.jpg.  I believe them to be the same blades.

I agree with you and find them sharp, smooth, and comfortable and am using one this week.
