Andrew how is your bump issue going? Have you tried anything that is working (or not working)?

well, I tried the flying wing GEM 2 weeks ago or so. I wasn't crazy about it so I switched over to the ever-ready 1914. today will be my 2nd shave with the 1914, 4 days apart from my 1st shave with it. my prep and software has remained the same:

- hot shower
- scrub my lower neck with an exfoliating pad
- splash my face with cold water after the shower
- face lather using a synthetic brush and catie's bubbles LPV

today I tried going N-S on the right side of my face at a slight angle, but it felt tuggy...the GEM PTFE probably has less than 10 shaves on it so I doubt it's the blade. I may of been hitting some of the facial hair in an ATG manner. I then switched it up to go S-N on the left & right sides on my neck without any tugging, while the middle is always straight S-N as that's how my facial hair grows in that section.

my shave wasn't all that close, but I don't really push it, either. I still have some irritation on the right side of my lower neck. I think some of it is still residual from my last shave.

I'll post up some pics tonight when my internet connection is better. I also got my ATT S2 slant in the mail yesterday, I believe...I'm sure that'll be on the horizon soon to try..

Hopefully the irritation is less than usual. Technique changes can make a big difference sometimes! Are you being really careful about not shaving with any pressure? That's the most important thing for me in preventing irritation.

to me it doesn't feel like there's any pressure being applied. I think once I find the proper angle to shave my problem areas with, it'll help a bit.

I'll post a hair growth map if I get time in a few minutes, then post the direction I've been shaving in.

Hmmm. With that hair growth angle (which is a bit like mine) you might benefit from a careful downwards and upwards two-pass shave. What I do (which I recommended to my friend with shave bump issues) is look up and to the right in order to stretch the skin on the left side of my neck, and look up to the left to stretch the skin on the right side of my neck. This seems to be the best way to get a moderately flat surface while stretching the skin, which really helps with irritation/bumps. If you don't do this already, give it a try and see if it helps!

I can't say that I've ever turned my head to stretch the skin. I'll have to give it a try for the next shave.

Also, I was wondering: what software are you using? Sometimes when I use a soap that is less than slick, it causes drag on my neck and shave bumps appear, even if my skin is stretched according to the technique I mentioned above.

before shaving, I've been washing my face in the shower with ursa major facial wash, scrub my lower neck with an exfoliating pad, then face lather some catie's bubbles LPV using either my razorock or stirling synthetic.

here's some photos from Saturday morning, about an hour after my shave...I realize some parts aren't super close. I don't tend to push my trouble spots to get a super close shave...
