Boar brushes, brass razors, and hard pucks ARE traditional wet shaving. Everything else is modern day fluff for the girly men.

It's like the blues, the best stuff comes from dead guys.

Living on the edge
Maybe we should close this thread...it seems to have outlived its purpose.

Was that fair, or did I get a false impression? That has changed a lot and I now find it much more amenable here and I became happy to get more active and post regularly. In fact, now I think the DFS membership is the most trigger-happy with the ‘like’ button out of all the shaving fora, so the atmosphere here has become really positive.

What I find is that the different forums have different group dynamics and personalities. My sense is that DFS is the best place if you want to discuss more high-end products (which can get a negative reaction in other fora). The passarounds are a particular strength of DFS, and there are generally more and better reviews of razors, brushes, soap, etc. here than elsewhere. The activity is a bit light at times, but that’s up to us, and I always find that if you post something, everyone is around and logging on frequently, and ready to reply any time. There is for sure an enormous wealth of expertise among the members here - that is second to none.

Just my 2c.

I think you’re right. There was a time where the discourse was often disrespectful but it was a small minority that caused most of the issues. The moderators worked pretty hard to try to change that situation and (blowing my own horn here) I think we’ve been reasonably successful. Personally I’d like to see a little more discussion and I try to start threads with potential to stimulate discussion. Sometimes it works and sometimes not. Still I think DFS is a good forum
