A few months back, I sold my modest collection of vintage razors to razor emporium. I received what I felt was a fair credit to use on their site in exchange. I am overall satisfied with the transaction. At the time I
had no idea about Rex and was a brand new wet shaver (well I tried years ago and am a hobbyist type personality hence the collection). Well turns out with a coupon and the credit I can snag a konsul for a deal no reasonable wet shaver could refuse (though even more so for an ambasador). What say you brain trust? Just do it already? Oh worth noting my daily driver is a henson ++ and almost all the irritation on the neck line is gone (still room for improvement there and I do have to give my skin a break a couple times a week). Any subjective experiences with an ambassador v the Konsul (u toob to me is hard to get a real read on hardware as professional shavers seem to like everything and always get a great shave weather with a rock or a butterknife or a $600 razor all the same)

I didn't care for the Ambassador when used on the pass around but that may have been when they were still working kinks out as they had some early issue if I remember. The Konsul on the pass around to me was a great smooth razor. If not for the price I would have one.

I had an ambassador and sold it after discovering the Tatara Muramasa adjustable. I, too, found the Konsul much more smooth on the passaround.

A True Yo-Yo

I use an Ambassador every Monday and find it smooth and efficient. I used the Konsul in a pass around last summer and enjoyed that too. I would not hesitate on buying either if I were in your position.

I plan to pull the trigger this evening, but am leaning Konsul. Seems worst that happens is i can sell or trade it.

If you are having good success with the Henson medium (I am very much a Henson fan), then the smoothness of the Konsul would be my choice.

For me the Henson ++ is almost a perfect match. Its almost not even blade dependent. I really just wanted to use the credit on hardware, as I would be tempted to collect a bunch of soaps and other soft ware that I may and or may not ever use. Out front actually I planned on buying back a razor I sold them and having them refurb it with the credit, but since the Henson, I decided that for me it was modern razor or bust. So ill live on the edge and compare the Konsul to my used Henson.

If you don't need R41, H1, Fatip level blade feel, then I suggest the Konsul. The Konsul was the smoothest razor I have ever used on my neck. In its final configuration it just didn't have quite the efficiency I prefer for head shaves. The Ambassador beat it out in that category.

Update Time:
Well goooollly if this thing didn’t arrive fast, and wasn't just one of the best choices I have made recently, then my ma don't call me the weeper. The konsul gave me one of the best shaves I have ever had. Granted I'm one shave deep here. No namesake nicks or weepers, and honestly I do get cut often. The weight and feel of the razor is premium and makes its use effortless. It does have the slightest of slants, but it is slanted. Used a Gillette blue platinum blade on its maiden voyage, some ck6 pre-shave soap and black shroud soap finished with witch hazel, black shroud a/s splash and a coat of black shroud mysterium syrum. I may pop back in this here thread and update . Thanks again brain trust youz were correct.
