Does anyone know where I can currently purchase an Ikon Tech?

I purchased my iKon 104 Tech head(blem) from "razormoxie" on eBay, as some others in this thread had. It is listed as a "BLEM," but blemishes on mine were very small(if blemishes at all) and did not affect the function of the razor. It is one insanely efficient razor for me. It can work for me, but it does demand my attention in use.

Thread revival. Doing a search and saw this thread. Must have missed it somehow. Anyways, my thoughts on this blade forward feeling razor.

Just to put in a few thoughts of my own. For the experienced shaver, who doesn't mind a little bit of blade feel and/or forward feeling blade, the IKON Shavecraft Tech as an efficient feeling shaver is a tough razor to beat. If the shave is performed with some time and patience it will reward one with perhaps one of the best close cut shaves that a man can give himself with a safety razor or any razor to be honest. You don't need The Barber of Seville skill to master it, just sound technique and not be in a rush. Good prep especially a slick, cushiony and well hydrated lather to give nice residual slickness and glide for the razor. The results will speak for themselves.
The only drawback that I have encountered with the Tech is with prolonged growth or when I haven't shaved in over 4 days as I encounter just a bit of the razor skipping or deflecting off of the stubble. And I attribute that to the blade not being locked in as solidly as say a Timeless or the PAA EVO SS where the blade is virtually fully supported and held vise like in the razor. Other than that caveat, for me, it's a must have razor for those that chase the baby with a more aggressive/efficient working razor. A superb 2 pass razor that has very, very few challengers in the safety razor world........

Are these even still being made? I still have mine from when they first came out but I had a friend tell me that he heard they weren't being made anymore and ebay prices of these are double to triple what retail was... just wondering if anyone knows if this are still being produced.

No they stopped making them a while ago. There was still some stock left at certain vendors but I'm pretty sure they are all gone. Right now they are commanding high prices on the secondary market. Kon should resume making them and this time I'd like to see the Tech made in all SS.

I don't believe so. fendrihan used to sell the head only, but I just checked and they're sold out...that's where I got mine.

personally I prefer my blackbird SB over the ikon tech...a bit more money, but it shaves just as well without the harshness that comes along with the tech, in my opinion. the dart might be a cheaper alternative than the blackbird that shaves equally as well.

I encourage all of you who think you have met your match in terms of the ultimate "aggressive" razor to test this one. I use (and enjoy) the R41 2011, PAA DOC Evolution in stainless, Charcoal Goods first generation Level 3 open comb in brass, Le Coq cage comb, Blackbird, Blackland Dart, Timeless .78 open comb in bronze, Wolfman WR2 1.35 open comb, etc., but none is as blade-forward as the Ikon Tech. I'm glad to see it back.

I find the name change interesting. When I bought mine, it was still known as the iKon ShaveCraft 104 Tech. Perhaps “Tek” is thought to remove some of the association with the Gillette Tech, since the two razors shave about as differently as an eagle and a duck fly. (Nothing wrong with how either flies, they’re just very different.)
