I put two shims under a feather blade it's still not aggressive enough for me. What should I do now? It helped a lot but I need something more aggressive.

Fatip? Inexpensive and all brass construction.

Yep, that would be a cheap way to upgrade.

Third vote for a fattip get the grande though the handle on the piccolo is too small in my opinion.  The grande handle is much better for not much more in cost

Do yall like the fattip?

My Fatip Grande is my daily driver. I love it! There are days when I get lazy with it though and have to take a day off to let my face heal haha. I also recommend the grande handle vs the piccolo. The piccolo is a little heavier, but the thicker (hollow by the way) handle is more comfortable to me.

I agree, the fatip is pretty aggressive. that's the reason I sold mine...

I shimmed it with two more shims so thats a total of 4 shims but still not much better. Should I go straight to the r41 or what? I would by a ATT razor or ikon. I don't mind spending a few hundred dollars for something that works and I would use about everyday.

Are you using other razors in addition to the Merkur? If so do they work better? Ae you using one razor consistently, or are you switching between razors?

I generally like aggressive razors with the Cadet/Pearl/RazoRock open comb being my go to, but also like the Matadore/Sabi T2. Yet I can still get good shaves with the Merkur 34 or a Weber polished head. The difference is that milder razors require really paying attention to using an effective angle.

Most razors will allow you to run the blade at the right angle against your face, it's up to the user to develop technique that makes this happen.
