Bass Pro Shops is an outdoor sporting goods national chain. They sell hunting, fishing, camping, boating, etc supplies.

The store is beautiful and very outdoorsy. Taxidermy displays including the famed "Forever Locked" of two bulls who died when their horns interlocked. A wall size aquarium of gamefish enchants the youngesters. The support posts look like trees.  It is a fun place to visit.

We go there every once in a while. But I fear I may have to stop. Nothing to do with firearms policy sweeping the nation.

No it is more insidious than that. It is FOOTWEAR!!!!!

Every time I go there I seem to come home with something for my feet. Even though footwear was not on the agenda.

This place is turning me into Imelda Marcos. (History Note - Wife and defacto ruler to Philipine President Ferdinand Marcos. When their regime fell in the mid 1980s news reports claimed up to 7,500 pairs of shoes in her imperial palace closet. Despite the good and bad she did for her nation her legacy is her shoes)

The sale prices are just so good!

From the left"
Duck boots just perfect for walking the dogs, stepping out to fetch firewood or wearing all day in rainy weather. $24
Light weight hiker. My relax around the house shoe. $24
Camo slip-ons. Admittedly ugly as sin. But I leave them at camp. They are my go to shoe when the sudden urge to go dip a fly lure into the pond hits me. $19
Winterboots. Insulated and waterproof. They broke the bank at $30.

BPS house brand is called Redhead after a duck. These shoes are all that brand. They have all served me well.

Hang tough there Imelda. You still have several thousand pairs to buy to get back on schedule. Ha! Fun thread. I too have too many boots.

These are just my BPS shoes.
Of course I have steeltoe boots, sneakers, work shoes, dress shoes and casual shoes. But still a LOOONG ways off from Imelda.

Isn't this an AWESOME problem to have? As a kid I had two pair of boots; church/school and work. When the work boots wore out I'd get a new pair and the church boots became the work ones. I remember I'd unintentionally scuff the toe of a brand new boot and feel sick about it knowing it was not going to get replaced. These days I have specific boots/shoes for every sort of activity and have extras in both campers and at the ranch. What an awesome life we live. Keep on buying those Redheads. The Morris family needs he money!

Imelda indeed! That was too funny!

Where is a BPS within striking distance? I know that means something different for you and myself.

Not a bad problem to have, really. I used to suffer from it with Cabela's.

I live less than 10 minutes from Bass Pro but we usually only go there to eat Chinese food in the casino it's attached to. Lol.
