With my last order from Martin de Candre, I received my ordered product, a jar of MdC (original lavendar) shaving soap, but I also received a sample labeled "fougere".  It was certainly a different consistency of that of the shaving soap in the jar.  The sample is hard and cut into a square of about 1.5" and about 0.5" thick.  It has a strong fourgere scent that was apparent even prior to opening the well-sealed package.  I'd assumed this was a shaving soap sample, but when I attempted to use it last night, it was very difficult to load after "blooming," and making a lather was very difficult.  When I finally achieved a lather, it broke down as soon as I applied it.  I ultimately rinsed, gave up, and went to another soap.  Can someone who's received a shaving soap sample from from the the French Martin de Candre store tell me what the sample actually looked like?  I am thinking this was actually a hand/body bar soap.  Whatever it is, I'm trashing it because it's a pain in the ass.

.......why not use it as a bath or hand soap instead of throwing it away?

For one, it pissed me off. Secondly, it broke into 3 pieces as I attempted to press it into the bottom of the bowl. Finally, the scent would be fine as a shaving soap, but it would be a little much for my whole body, and I don't use bar soap as hand soap.

All evidence has been buried.  All tapes have been erased.

Thanks for the confirmation.
