I just hate it when, for some unknown reason, I get an obscure song stuck in my head, where it goes around and around nonstop for hours - sometimes for days. I remember being plagued by this many years ago with the theme from the McDonalds "You Deserve a Break Today" TV ad.

And this morning it's the old Statler brothers song, "Flowers on the Wall."

I really hate this.

John, at least they are somewhat pleasant songs. Can you imagine having some of those heavy/thrash metal songs going on for hours or days? Big Grin

Yeah, or bagpipe music. OK I happen to enjoy bagpipes but I noticed something recently. I have tinitus (I noticed that a long time ago) but I was listening to some bagpipe music, and i noticed that while the pipes were playing I couldn't hear the ringing in my ears!! What a revelation. Pipes and drums regularly for me now. Its a good thing I already enjoy these instruments. I wonder....maybe thats why I have tinitus in the first place Confused2

But what if one really happens to enjoy heavy metal?

Then, that would be a good thing, I presume. Shy

I liked Flowers on the Wall, John. Big Grin

All kidding aside, I know what you mean. I wonder what the triggers are for that phenomenon?

I kind of liked the song too, Freddy, once or twice - but not over and over.
I don't know what triggers this. But I suspect that it occurs more frequently in folks who have some element, great or small, of rumination or even OCD.

And it happened again today!  This morning it was Onward Christian Soldiers, which for me is worse, even when sung by the great Mormon Taberwockle Choir, than Heavy Metal.

I'd totally forgotten about Flowers on the Wall. Good song, I liked it as much playing the video now as I did when it was popular about 1/2 a century ago (give or take).

For me it was OK the first 2-3 times through my head...
I'm reminded of being stranded overnight in the Atlanta airport during a Christmas time trip and hearing The Little Drummer Boy from the ceiling speakers 26 times.
