I'm originally from 500+ miles to the south of where I presently live and I have relatives whose lives I've played less than a minor role in back there.

My nephews fiancé contacted me to place an order for products and in the email discussion it turns out that my nephew has turned to blade shaving and in hers words, "will never go back to cartridges". Cool! I offered my help if it's ever needed and she suspects that he'll contact me, but it's nice to see another generation in my family finding what's good.

That's great! I think most people would switch if they just gave it a try and have the patience to perfect lathering and razor technique.

Good deal, Brian. It feels good, doesn't it, to have had even a small part in someone's 'coming over'.

And there, my friend, you've fingered the problem for people and wet shaving. Young people fortunate enough to have a decent job, in today's economy, generally have that job because they work harder than their peers at what they do. Patience connotes time and time is what they consider themselves short of. 2-3 minutes of running the electric over their face is a lot better than 20-30 minutes necessary for a wet shave, in their eyes. Reduce the stubble to an acceptable level and you're good for the workday. Heck, another 2-3 minutes will get you ready for a night out. What's not to like?

I know... I did it for 50 years before coming home!

I have no experience with electric razors other than trying them a few times to see how well they work. I had no luck getting a close shave, and being former active duty Air Force I could not get away without a close shave. My beard is fairly thick and dark so it's obvious if I skipped a day. My go to was a Fusion for years and a Mach 3 prior to that. I enjoyed those razors but had to deal with irritation on my neck a lot due to having sensitive skin. I recall having to get a shaving waiver a couple times because it got so bad. After I got out of the AF 10 years ago I started shaving every other day at most and every 3rd day usually, then wore a beard for 7 years. It's been nearly a year since I shaved my beard for a new job and decided to try out shaving with a DE and I've been enjoying shaving even since.

This is a great story! Hopefully, your nephew will contact you.

I don't have any family members, near or distant, that are into traditional wet shaving. I do have a friend/co-worker who is into wet shaving and it really is fun just to discuss shaving in person. Online is fun too, but there's something about face-to-face or a personal connection that is rewarding.

I also intend to direct him here. I can't be all things to anyone and I won't even try. I can do my part, but there are parts for others to play as well. We all bring different minds, ways of thinking, and experience to the pastime.
