Has anyone tried Hub City?

They appear to have some interesting scent offerings. Ingredient list also looks impressive. I'm curious if they perform at the A&E, B&M, Wholly Kaw, Noble Otter, etc level?

Thanks

David is a friend of mine and I can attest to the quality of his soaps. I don't thank you'd be disappointed in them.

Hub City is on par with several top tier soap makers such as Mammoth, B & M and Talbot to name a few. Aegyptus and Red Cabin are favorites of mine The aftershaves are equally as impressive and don't get enough praise; they hydrate quite well. David is a great guy to deal with!

Thanks guys. I ordered ‘Friday Night Lights’ from WCS.

I’ll report back on the performance and scent notes when it arrives next month. Lol

I tested Hub City today. I liked it very much. I am ready to confirm that this is a top tier soap. On a par with top manufacturers. The smell reminds me of the smell of B&M Citricuya soap (and I really like it)

I had a chance to use Friday Night Lights

Excellent performer! This is a top-tier soap ... no question about it. The lather reminded me a lot of A&E. It was super sticky, slick and thick... just the way I like it!

Scent was sweeter off the puck than I expected. A nice blend of Vanilla and Coconut that I initially mistook for marshmallow. After rinsing my face in between passes, I do clearly pickup a campfire notes. I keep thinking overall its a sweet sandalwood scent, but that could just be me.

I will definitely be buying more Hub City soon (Red Cabin in the Woods will likely be my next purchase).

Glad to hear it.  At the moment, A&E is one of my top favs, so I am really looking forward to taking some Hub City for a spin.

So Hub City produces several great sets...red cabin in the woods, aegyptus, and pages. Their performance is definitely better than B&M and on par with Declaration Grooming, Murphy & McNeil, and A&E prek1 base. David the owner is a fantastic individual and does a great job with customer service. It also helps that he is an avid wetshaver and has quite the shaving collection.

I'm glad you posted, partly because it bumped the thread and reminded me to check back in.

I'm only two shaves in, one with Red Cabin and the other with Chats with Grandpa (CWG).  Both performed very well, smelled good, and lathered up easily.  Some folks may be interested to know that Hub City offers samples too, so there is an especially low cost route to try them.  I got two samples, the CWG and Friday Night Lights (FNL), and both samples seem likely to last for five shaves or thereabouts - definitely enough to make a clear impression.  I will likely try out FNL next week, but I am already quite impressed.

As someone who has evaluated nearly 100 soap formulations (most of them high end), I put Hub City Soap in the top 25 formulations. They puts them in the same class as some of the older formulations from many of the top artisans. However, my top 10 formulations are recent formulations from those same artisans. The difference for me is the postshave moisturizing and conditioning. My top ten formulations will leave my face feeling great for more than 16 hours while the next 15 last more than 8 but less than 16 hours. If you use an aftershave splash, balm, or serum, then you probably wouldn't even notice the difference.

The only Hub City Soap I have is Morning Hike, but it is a very nice scent.
