Finally, my Taiga just arrived and it has been well worth the wait. Very nice packaging with the razor looking well built and finely crafted. Impressive fit and finish with a nice touch of alignment markings on the top cap, tension plate and base plate. You just can’t screw it up even if you tried. Well, I shouldn’t say fool proof as there is always someone to prove me wrong. Anyhow, I enjoyed the shaves immensely with the prototype and am definitely looking forward to getting it on with the production version. Impressions to follow....
Smooth, smooth and smooth. The razor delivered exactly what I was expecting and perhaps a bit more. Excellent craftsmanship and feel in the hands while exhibiting a nice balance from the bottom of the handle to the top cap though, I do feel it leans slightly towards the top in weight bias. Nevertheless, it was an excellent 3 pass shave on its first go. Set it on 4 with a fresh Feather and I ran with it. There is a bit of blade feel but it’s slightly muted that you feel as though the razor & blade combo won’t bite you. Again, it was on setting 4 so it was just slightly under the mid point in aggression. But, it still cuts with a smooth efficiency and just removes the whiskers with a calm authority. First shave was awesome and looking forward to getting in a full weeks worth especially with the OC plate. This razor is a banger for sure...
Shave #2 with the Taiga and the same Feather blade on its 2nd use. Had to try it on its max setting of 6 but, it can actually go a full 2 1/2 sizes past the 6 marker. Stubble was just barely a days worth so, kept it at 6. Tiny bit more blade feel yet just as smooth as yesterday’s shave on 4. Can’t tell that there’s a Feather in there, tames it that well. The Orange Patchouli from Lisa’s is just an amazing scent & performer. Great shave truth be told. Going to go a couple of days without shaving and swap out the SB plate and install the OC version and go full tilt. A great day and shaves to all....
The Taiga definetely is a hit.
Just a question to all users, who also prefers the OC baseplate?
Someone has Observation s about good and not so good working blades?
Here's my observations
Personna platinum
Best blade in my Taiga so far, i love it as much as it disappoints me in the Rockwell 6s.
Voskhod
Works fine in the Taiga which can be dialed up a little bit more. 3 shaves, max 4
Tiger Platinum
Pretty similar to Voskhod but lasts one or two shaves longer
Astra SP
At the moment not my fav blade, gives me more Nicks than in all other razors. Unfortunately no love at this point. Using the sb plate its a little bit better. More Tests so come, maybe i need to dial down more. At the moment Im a little bit disappointed.
Feather
Only tested one blade so far, no conclusion do far.
So what I can say is that blades seem to last longer in the Rockwell. But only one or two shaves.

Full tilt at max with the Taiga and just an awesome shave. The Feather was brilliant with no harshness on it’s 3rd shave. Fantastic, fantastic, fantastic. Good feel yet still quite smooth with a larger gap that offers nice blade reveal and feel for a 2 pass and no touch ups BBS finish. Definitely as good as a Gibbs Reglable No.15/17 if not better with equal smoothness but, possessing a bit more blade feel does the Russian Bear have over the French Revolutionary. The Gibbs might be just a tad softer on the face at full tilt but, the Taiga is right behind it and one must acknowledge that there’s an OC set up on it. Superb is all I can say. Just superb. A great evening and shaves to all...

Great reviews and glad you finally have this beast! Been comparing the Taiga and the Rocnel 2019 Sailor for a while now and still love them both. I do prefer a Feather blade in the Taiga and I have found the SB plate to be my favorite in it. Great reviews and good choice of soaps. Just placed a large order from the latest drop and can’t wait to get them. Have fun with your Taiga!
