The 0.8 has a little more 'spring' than the 0.9....as in it's easier to compress with the fingers.

With the 10 X 0.8 X 15 mm spring loaded, the dial turns smoothly and (I felt) quite easily....at least it did not have
that slight grinding sound that came from turning the knob with the 10 X 1 X 15 mm spring inserted.

However, the 10 X 0.9 X 15 mm spring  split the difference very well, providing a pleasant, tactile and responsive
experience...my fave of the lot so far. That's the one Im going with for now

I have asked them to quote on a custom SS 316 spring with specs of 10 X 1 X 12.7 mm. Set at 5.5 coils.

Do you think the replacement spring supplied by HLS (and mentioned above) has the 1 mm wire gauge, ie 10 x 1 x 15 mm?
I thought it might have the 0.9 mm wire gauge, but I haven’t actually asked them to confirm, nor have I measured it… so it was just a guess…

I had it measured...the exact specs of the new, stiffer HLS spring I received are:

10.28mm X 1 X 15mm (it has 5 coils)

the 10 X 0.90 X 15 mm one I have has 6 coils

( I will never figure out the physics behind all these small details, and how they interact with each other,
but I am convinced that they do)

Ordered 2 custom SS316 springs measuring 10X1X12.7mm (set at 5 coils)
Worked out to about US$9 per spring...absurd but it had to be done.

Another thing:
Was after a mild shave today and did one pass with the Taiga....I was surprised
at how much beard was removed on the first pass....but when I went to check the setting
I saw that I had forgotten to move the dial from 1...LOL

It still shaves on 1...how cool is that?

Got a couple of custom-made springs done in SS316....10 X 1 X 12.7mm

Work great in the Taiga...they got the tolerances on the diameter just perfect, there is absolutely no wiggle
with this spring.

Both the springs below are an improvement over the stock spring provided, however Im gonna stay
with the 12.7 as it's SS316.

From HLS’ YouTube channel…
Not sure if the “3-4 weeks” at the end necessarily means they’ll have another batch available for sale in 3-4 weeks, and whether it’s SS or Ti…

Haha! Brilliant!

I don't know whether these cryptic lines are intentional or not.

You can tie yourself into knots trying to decode them.

And there's a possibility they could mean something else altogether.

Hi, new to this forum, and found this thread. I am in the process of purchasing a first gen (I believe first gen due to coming with both plates) Taiga, and I wanted to pick up some spare springs. Do you know which I may need? I started going down the rabbit hole, but can't seem to get a consensus. I've seen wire guage between .8 and 1.0 mm, uncompressed height between 10 and 15 mm, and outer width seems to have been a consistent 10mm. Don't know which to order and where to order from, also not sure between 304 ss and 316 ss

Edit: Sergei emailed me back saying the spring is 10x10x1, cant seem to find any in 316 online though

Word to the wise. the black lettering, numbers and marks on the Taiga are painted on and not laser etched, so extra care is required.

I’m getting more and more pissed off about not being able to purchase from Home Like Shaving!! Especially as more and more posts about the new Taiga Slant get posted to IG!
