Did they say why they do that?

Their target is regular cartridge shavers, so they didn't want to cause any confusion to those customers. This was their way to appease us enthusiasts, but not confuse regular people.

If I'm not mistaken Stonefieldshave.com in Winnipeg stocks the AL models

Oh sorry. Fendrihan stocks as well with a limit on colours. The Razor Company mentioned before does offer free shipping north of the border over a reasonable threshold.

 I just went to shave nation and was able to put an  al aggressive into the shopping cart.  What am I missing?

If I remember correctly, you can turn the handle back a quarter turn on the Henson to increase the gap and it will still be tight because of the spring in the top cap. Is that correct? I had one of the first titanium ones but sold it a while back.

While one can do that with many razors, it isn't recommended.  In the Henson, it does not make a ++ into a +++.  One of the best parts of the design is the rigid blade clamping, you lessen that if you open it up.  Also the angle changes to steeper, which isn't a better thing for these razors.  But if you want to try and it is good for you, go for it.
