Henson Al13 Razor - From the Guys Who Brought You The ISS

Yes, the Hensons are my best razors, I now have a +, ++, and +++ in Al and a +++ in Ti.  Lots of discussion about them at B&B.  Awesome razors!

Does anybody still use these it looks like they're dead in the water from this thread?

I still use my +++ often, it's my travel razor. I'm considering getting one in Ti. I had the Ti medium, and really liked it as well. 

Henson is my recommendation for DE beginners. My 22 yr old son started with a Muhle DE89 and liked it well enough. Switched to a Henson Medium and he loves it.

Aah sounds like you are enjoying it.

Definitely an under appreciated razor as you can get a very comfortable and efficient shave with any of their different plates. It can hold its own compared to any other shiny or more expensive razor. I enjoy using it and can easily recommend it for mild or more aggressive shavers alike.

I would like to try a Medium one. I see that they almost never have discounts/sales since their initial $39.99 limited time offer price.

Henson itself doesn't have discounts as far as I have seen, but you can buy one from a reseller when they have a coupon. It is an amazing razor!

The newer geometry head is even better! I agree.

What happened to the purple finish? I see some photos of older ones with it but no longer on their website

Henson originally offered 10 colors, including gold, in their V1 (Version 1) razors.  Gold was the first to go, before the end of 2020, since their sub-contractor who anodizes their razors was unable to meet their quality standards.  When Henson switched to the V2 (Version 2) model, they added the Copper finish but discontinued the Coral, Red, Purple, Military Green, and Azure (Teal). This happened in 2022.  It is possible to still find some of the older colors in some vendors NOS V1 razors stock.  Also, the discontinued colors appear regularly on Buy Sell and Trade in many online shaving forums.
The Titanium model was offered in 3 colors initially in V1, but that also did not last very long (6 months).  The Titanium model has only been offered in one color since 2021.
I purchased the AL13 V1 in Coral, Purple, Red, Military Green, Silver and Azure.  I also have a V2 in Tan.  I purchased and gave away a Blue V1 to a new wet shaver.
The Copper anodized finish is quite unique, since you get a copper looking razor without any of the finish oxidation issues of real copper.  I do not know of any other aluminum razors with this finish.
There is one additional color which is offered by Henson.  It is not available on the Henson site, and is only sold by authorized vendors.  It is the Gray color, which is only offered in the AL13 V2 aggressive (+++) model.  It is also a unique color.  A medium/dark gray with "bluish hues"...kind of like a blue/gun metal!  I have that model, and it is my favorite color of the Hensons in my collection.  The V2 aggressive model is also my favorite Henson.
