Gents,

All of the newer sample orders have gone out. I’ll touch bases in a couple of days and send replacements to any of the first round that haven’t gotten theirs.

I’m a believer in transparency, the focus of this post.

I haven’t shared much about this soap as I wanted the first round of folks to draw their conclusions before sharing detail. I’ve partnered with another company to produce this soap. I handle the scent and they make the soap. My partner is Music City Suds, based here in metro Nashville.

As good as their soap base is, the product didn’t take off, probably due to their marketing efforts focusing on the feminine gender. Quality shaving soap is hard to formulate, thus I didn’t want to do it myself as it isn’t my primary business focus. The next fragrance will be Southern Comfort, an awesome bourbon / tobacco scent.

I’ll break the ice on critical feedback as I want folks to feel free to speak their minds. In looking at reviews from their soap, as well as a private message I received, some folks have commented on cushion/volume as an area for improvement. I haven’t noticed this and won’t take action now, though will do so if market feedback warrants it.

Gents,

By now, all US based folks from the shipment about a week and a half ago should have their sample. Please PM or email me at pete@hendrixclassics.com if yours hasn't come.

There are two cases I know of where the USPS systems rollers mashed the soap out of the wax paper. Please let me know if this happened to you. I want to set the standard for excellent customer service from the beginning.

Canada usually takes about a week and a half. We have one service member (thank you for your service) who had his shipped to an APO. I don't know what the transit time is on those.

I followed primotenore's suggested and now have baking parchment. I'll use more parchment in hopes that the rollers won't press the soap outside of the parchment.

Shave 5 with the Hendrix Classics & Co. Barbershop sample. Very generous size sample Pete123 I will get two, maybe three more shaves.
I have developed a good technique for lathering this soap and the results are very good. Thank you again.

Hey, Pete123, this is just a shout out to let you know I had my first shave out of the full tub I purchased earlier in the week and that arrived yesterday.  The shave was with my synthetic horse hair knot brush, RazoRock aluminum HAWK (v.1) razor and a first use Schick Proline P-30 blade and the results were great, just as your sample promised.  Because yours is a softer soap, I did not bloom it before use but, rather, kept slowly wetting the brush as I built lather right in the tub.  In no time I had a wonderful lather built up that was enough for my usual two-pass plus touch up shave and the lather did not break down during passes.  This is a soap that is a pleasure to use and, once again, thank you for your very generous offer of free samples to all who wanted to give it a try. Happy2

Hey Pete123 Thanks again for the samples. I've had three shaves now with the soap. They have all been great! Lathered up well, nice and slick, and I enjoyed the scent.

The soap has excellent slickness and a very nice post shave feel. I am also trying a sample of the AS balm and a very small amount goes a long way. Used too much the first night and had to rinse some off but just the equivalent of 1 pump from my AOS bottle covers everything leaving a very nice soft feel.

First, thank you for the generous offer to try your soap. My sample was returned by the post office. Pete contacted me to confirm the address, and then sent the sample back my way. Impressive customer service. Head and face shave today. Nice soap. I am largely a tallow guy, but this is a really nice non tallow lather. Scent strength is terrific. Nice robust scent, off the sample and lathered. Barbershop is not my typical scent choice, but pleasantly surprised. Lathered easily. I was able the get a nice, slick, thick lather quickly. Went on smooth and stayed stable as I shaved. Three passes on the head no issue, three on the face, same. I didn’t find the “residual slickness for touch ups without relathering” in this soap, but i don’t find in in most. Could’ve be me. Not faulting the soap though, that is what relathering is for. Rinsed clean with no residue. Still have a few more shaves to go, but initial impression is very positive. This soap is worth checking out. Thanks again for the offer.
