My old Baron I believe 5614 has died. You can't get parts and I macguyvered it for the last time.

The braun  had separate foil and  Blade. I tried a braun 3 series that my dad has and it does a barely OK job. I bought a new cartridge for it. It doesn't seem to do much better. After 2 and a 1/2 days of face growth the thing pinches the crap out of my face when I use it. When using it every day it's moderately better no pinches but it does not get a close shave under my neck. I find myself constantly taking out my hand razor and using that.

Is there anyone out there who makes something that has a separate foil and a separate razor because I'm guessing that gives the best shave. I don't want to take a chance of buying a brand series 7 or 9. They're very pricey and furthermore the replacement cartridges seem to cost I have a lot more.

Surely there's something out there but what!

THANKS

I used to like Brauns, but now they are on my poop list since they discontinued the replacement foils for a model that was less than two years old.  Angry

Never again.

Well I just got a braun series 7 that I'm gonna try for a couple weeks .I understand that I can return it if no better. I don't expect it to be better. But I'm not sure what else to do. I'm looking for something that gives me a very close shave that won't have difficulty with me not shaving Friday and Saturday and waiting till Sunday or Sunday evening. My very old brawn 5614 was no problem. I don't know what I should buy now. I am actually thinking of going in on eBay and trying to find an old 5614 but those things are so old I'm just afraid it's not gonna last so what are you guys recommend.

Before I focused my preference towards wet shaving, I’ve used them all. None of the electrics could handle more than 2 days worth of growth. None of them could match the closeness or less irritation capabilities of wet shaving. With some practice, the wet shave could be just as fast if not faster than an electric shave. And of course wet shaving is way more enjoyable.

Man....the old 5614 easily went thru multiple days growth. Maybe I should turn to ebay.
