Hello all,

I've been lurking on various forums for quite some time, decided I'd stick my head out of the woodwork.  I'm a recent convert to DE shaving and think of it as a means of saving money.  As such, I see the allure of the various *ADs and push past them, with some sadness. When it comes to the shaves themselves, I look to save as much as I can while still getting a good shave with zero irritation.  After all, the money savings are paramount, but the irritation savings are also vast!  My set up consists of Arko sticks as my main soap, a horse hair brush from Shave Factory, a Rimei razor (looking to replace that, though, bad plating job is rather annoying), and Astra SPs as my blades of choice.

I look forward to being a more active part of the community.

When I started wet shaving it was more out of me inheriting my grandfathers old shave gear.  Many blogs etc. talked about the financial savings of wet shaving compared to cartridge shaving.  It's long been my belief that this may start out as true and the intent of the new wet shaver, but it rarely ends up saving you money.  I spend 5 times more a year on shave gear now then I ever did with Cartridge shaving.  There are too many wonderful options to try in DE shaving .  However, at the end of the day the shaves are great and if you enjoy it, money very well
spent.  Welcome!!
