I wanted to ask the crowd to help me check my thinking. My favorite razor is my Wolfman WR2 105 in titanium. I really enjoy that gap and find it great for every day use. If I didn’t have it in my den, I would be really bummed. Therefore, I am thinking about adding a back-up because we all know that James will not be doing this forever and Wolfman is a one-man operation. I also really like the look of his premium dark bronze. I have a WR1 in that finish. For the back-up WR2 105, I was thinking about getting it in the dark bronze. I’m wondering what that is going to do to the aggression on the razor compared to the titanium? My general experience has been that heavier razors feel more aggressive.  What do you guys think?  Maybe it will be different enough to make them both have a place other than just aesthetics?

Obviously this is just my opinon but I think technique can compensate for the differences in weight so as to enjoy both weight worlds. For example today I used the Alpha Claymore SS which is a BEAST weight wise compared to my Titanium Vector but I got a very similar smooth and trouble free shave. I just take into consideration the weight and feel of the razor I'm using when I use it. Good foresight so as to get razors while you can from makers that ARE the brand while you can.

Can't agree more.  I like titanium because it just feels better to me.  But I have the Timeless in both stainless and titanium and they give me the same shave with a conscious adjustment in technique.

I also have the Ti 1.05 Wolfman and I love it too.

I thought the feel of Titanium I read about was all hype until I experienced it myself with the Blackbird. It was a revelation to me and I totally agree about the soft feel of that metal.

It's been some time since seeing this topic posted but I believe most have said if you want to match your Ti to a Bronze you need to go down in blade gap but I'm not sure exactly how much though... I think it was mentioned in this thread a few times... https://damnfineshave.com/thread-wolfman...discussion

In my experience titanium is less effective than other materials such as stainless steel. If I go titanium, I choose a way more aggressive option to compensate that lack of efficiency. Same for the aluminium.

A heavier razor will feel more efficient because there is added pressure from gravity driving the razor into your skin. There are pros and cons to this. We discuss this in a blog post about the benefits of a titanium razor.

I partially agree. I think there are so many factors to consider... That's just theory with low reality correspondence in my opinion. By the way I think I have got a very good technique after wet shaving for over 15 years. And on me a titanium razor is always less effective even doing a huge pressure. I much prefer your Blackbird in stainless steel or brass. And yes I still apply pressure with your Blackbird with any issues, although having a quite sensitive skin. Titanium on me has just a nicer feeling, definitely softer, no other benefits.

I think we agree. A stainless razor is going to be more effective/efficient. If you need all that efficiency, titanium won't have benefits. But for people who don't always need every ounce of efficiency, titanium gives them the flexibility of reducing or increasing efficiency as needed.
