Merkur Man great lather, it looks so good!

However, I only want to buy a puck of L'Orange Noir if the soap is a great performer particularly in the post shave. If what @"Uzi" is saying is true then I am not sure I am inclined to spend a lot of money getting it to my door.

I think I will only buy a puck if the reviews I hear drastically change. Sad

I enjoy American Blend, but that's as far as I'm going right now.  I'm trying to settle on a series of soaps, so buying for the sake of buying is not in my plans.

I just spent the last year getting down to 30-35 soaps. I have 4-5 from some brands I like and 1-2 from others. I want to try the fine soaps, but I'm just going to try and be happy with the ones I have. After several years the AD for everything has worn off THANK GOD lol. Now I just look for a few DE razors that I am interested in.

I ordered a puck and AS of the l'orange noir. I figured I would see for myself hype or not!

Hi Oli, I have the American Blend and I did order a couple of the new fragrances. I think its on par with most of the other hard soaps out there such as D.R. Harris but I would put Tabac just a notch above performance wise. I say this because part of Fine's promo on the American Blend was that it "might" be made by the same maker as Tabac. I don't think so or at least if it is its not the same formula. Different ingredients and the soap doesn't look or perform like Tabac. That said, I like the scent and I'll have a few on hand. I'll likely give my son his pick of the bunch.

Marko thanks for your thoughts. I like Tabacs performance but it wouldn't be top of the pile and if the fine soaps don't perform any better then I will probably give this one a miss. I will still be on the look out for reviews though Smile

I already have the American Blend soap and splash. And, I ordered the Santal Absolut soap and splash. I like the AS and the soap is decent. The reference to AOS Sandalwood got me to pull the trigger on the Santal Absolut. The soap isn't up to the performance of the old tallow AOS(Valobra), but I thought the scent was worth the shot. We'll see.
