so far, I think my best shave has come from the headblade sport. I'm going to give that another go tomorrow night and try using coconut oil as the shaving oil rather than a soap. the problem I've been having with soap is that it tends to flake off since I'm still slow at shaving my head.
I also have some shaving oil on order from sir hare. I've read a lot of great things about it so we'll see how it goes!
Bummer. The L is a pretty mild injector, I'm pretty surprised the Head Blade rates better for you. I'll have to give one a try sometime.

I think it's probably a technique issue still and I'm still working out what works best for my head. my face seems to like shaving with cold water, before showering. the hot water tends to give me more bumps than when using cold water. for my head, I'm not so sure about that yet..

After trying several DE razors, the Schick Xtreme 3 and the Gillette Guard, I think I'm going to go stick with my Mach 3. The blades are expensive, but it gives me the closest 1 pass shave. Stay Calm and Shave On!
aside from my gillette guard and headblade, I haven't used any other cartridge yet. I think I have some new schick hydros laying around somewhere. the pivoting head probably lends itself well to head shaving.

I do sympathize with those that can't make the safety razors work for the head. I'm just the opposite, could not get clean and comfortable with a cart or disposable, but the DE was a dream from about a week in...

speaking strictly of the headblade, I think its design is what is so appealing to most. you stick your middle finger under the handle and just let the razor glide over the contours of your head with 0 worry about angles and such.
