I didn't enjoy the initial gel-like feeling of the liquid on my face but when it dried it left my face feeling spectacular. The best part about alcohol bases A/S lotions is that first few seconds after applying it and then it's downhill from there. This Grooming Dept stuff is very different- I didn't get the initial satisfaction of alcohol but the best feels come later on- so requires a mental adjustment.
Mine came with a reducer- not a fan of it- really had to shake hard to get the product to come out. But, you don't need much anyway, and I could easily see someone applying way more than is needed. This is not your typical Pinaud product- this stuff is more about skin care than that that refreshing zing you get from alcohol- so YMMV.
Thank you so much for sharing your feedback!
I agree completely that there is no other product on the market quite like the Grooming Dept alcohol-free aftershave. After spending countless hours reading and learning about the subject, I've made around 80 batches of the product over the course of three years.
As you mentioned, this aftershave is different from the typical alcohol-based products that are splashed on one's face. Instead, it focuses on skincare after using a shaving instrument. I don't have any issues with alcohol-based aftershaves, and I'm currently working on my own version that will be completely unique compared to the others on the market.
There have been some difficulties with the caps and bottles of the Grooming Dept aftershave, I personally prefer the pumps. However, due to some upcoming changes to the bottles, I'll be using reducers for the next few releases. I plan to switch back to pumps in the fall.
