Mohammad said that four Kairos SE soaps, the ones with Emu oil and lamb tallow, would also be part of the July release. All the 11 soaps listed are the regular Kairos base. Whether there is a noticeable difference between the regular Kairos and Kairos SE, it is not for me to say since I never tried the former. Let's see if those SE ones would show up on his site.

I communicated with Mohammad yesterday after noting the new additions to the web site.

Kairos is a superb soap; it is one of my super-elite soaps. About the only difference I notice between Kairos and Kairos SE is that the later has a postshave feel that will linger beyond 24 hours while the regular Kairos starts to fade around the 24 hour mark. There are only a handful of soap formulas that can reach 24 hours. Grooming Dept has three of them: Kairos, Kairos SE, and Mallard.

No matter what your scent preferences, I suspect you will be able to find something you like among the 11 scents listed. Le Tabac won't be exactly the same as the Fortis Le Tabac scent, but will also borrow from the Mallard Amore scent. Sandalwood Nobile was formerly released in the Janus Tallow formula. It is a very nice sandalwood scent.

Although I have too many soaps in my den, I am  planning to purchase a tub of Oud Osmanthus as that scent sounds wonderful. I would also purchase English Lavender if my skin were not so sensitive to lime and lemon.

Although Mohammad is planning to release additional Kairos SE soaps in the near future, it won't happen in July. Mo has been working on an aftershave formula without alcohol. When the new Kairos SE soaps are released in a few weeks, they will be accompanied by matching scents in the new aftershave.

Thank you so much for the info RayClem. The reason I preferred the SE version was that I thought it would be slightly more slick. If the difference relates only to the post shave qualities of the soap, then the regular Kairos would be more than adequate for me. Your post was very informative as always!

With all due respect for a fantastic and informative post, find KSE slightly better for my skin RE cushion but do agree the postshave also superiour.

Not denigrating the assessment, only stating that with my water and really damaged and sensitive skin, find KSE provides more cushion than Kairos (at least as lathered).

However do agree the delta between the two is marginal, even if real.

Agree the delta between SE and Kairos to be small, but when zooming in on the difference, I do find the SE to be "softer" on my face, which is what I think DanLaw is calling cushion, and altogether a touch smoother/slicker.  Razor just goes with simple ease.  Every shave I've had using one of the three SEs I own has just about perfect.  The SE is, in my view, the single best soap I have or have used.  And, again, this is teasing out very fine perceived differences across a lot of very fine soaps. Also, fwiw, I don't find the post-shave to differ between them.

I sincerely thank all of you who shed light on the base-performance difference between the two version of Kairos. I''m disappointed that Mohammad has pushed back the SE releases by a few weeks as RayClem noted and will have to wait longer for the four SE releases later in the summer hopefully, if there is no further delays.
