What aftershaves are you guys using with Tao? I really like the scent but I struggle to think of a complementary aftershave. I probably don't need to use aftershave with most GD soaps but I like to do it anyway. I often struggle about what to match. So far I found that Citric pairs well with Chatillon Lux 4th and Pine. Chypre Conifere pairs well with Barrister and Mann Taiga. Verbrannt goes okay with Chatillon Lux Gratiot League Square. After the Fire goes pretty well with Barrister and Mann Cool. Other than that, I'm at a loss. What are you guys doing? And also, any specific recommendations for Tao?

I don’t really worry about it. The scents are pretty transient. Whatever edp I’m wearing will dominate anyway.

Been using the Preshave the last couple of days, and wow, this stuff is magic. It somehow gives me the closest shaves I've ever had. I had a BBS for over ten hours yesterday, had very little stubble this morning and got another 3 pass BBS. Thank you Mo, for creating this wonderful product.

I saw a couple of posts on B&B about the need to add to additional water when you using the preshave. Step number 3 in the suggested instructions recommends adding water!

I strongly suggest increasing and sometimes one needs to add a significant amount of water to the brush/bowl when using the preshave. More water gets you slicker soap, more water means more water will be trapped in upper skin layers by the preshave and later on with serum if one is using it.

I usually use a scentless aftershave as it allows me to use whichever cologne I want for that day.

Personally, I’m finding no need to add more water than usual to my bowl or brush when using both the GD preshave and a GD soap. Both of which I hydrate according to Mohammad’s instructions. I guess it’s yet another one of those darn YMMV..

Where I find the Preshave really beneficial, is with other soaps besides GD. I used the unscented preshave this morning with my MdC original scent soap. The MdC alone is usually very drying for me and the GD preshave worked its magic. My face feels smooth and comfortable.

Would someone please repost the preshave instructions? I can’t find them. Thanks.

1- Wet your face & hands.

2- Apply a pea (maybe a bit more) size of the preshave on your beard and neck areas, rub the preshave in a circular motion for at least one minute, one minute and thirty seconds is more than enough. (during this time, add few water drops, but not too much, you don’t want to dilute the preshave, you should let it form a film on your beard and neck areas).

3- You might need to increase the amount of water you use to make lather, Apply shaving soap on top of the preshave and enjoy your shave as usual. The preshave boosts the lather and is now mixed in the brush with the soap.

4- If doing multiple passes, lightly splash water on your face instead of completely removing the soap residue - as intended there are traces of the preshave there and you don’t want to strip it away, it’s good for your skin and will be absorbed.

I echo Fenchy’s comments about Mandarin used with the pre and lost completely. Just a whole other level of shave for me.

MJDJ, I paired Tao with T&S Kyoto AS. While different scent profiles, I thought they complimented each other quite well. The T&S AS is also a fantastic performer.
