Mo is in a very interesting and rather unique situation right now. Labels don’t matter much because all of his sales are via mail order. He doesn’t have to be concerned how they look on a shelf. That said...a quick look at his site shows that most all of his soaps are sold out. Conclusion? The quality and appeal of his products speak for themselves. Marketplace reality...People are buying the product...label appeal is irrelevant....especially for a product that sits in a drawer or closet 99.999999% of the time...

Of course. He's a hobbyist selling small batches by word of mouth and is working well for him. If he wants to continue in this fashion, you're right - labels are mostly irrelevant.

They will become increasingly important (and legally required) if sold in brick and mortar stores or by more online vendors. Besides offering weak branding with no clear strategy, there's random indication of the soap base used, no ingredients listed (externally) nor weight. These are the minimum of issues that would need to be addressed.

I was able to spot the complement in your message Smile Thank you, I'm happy you like the soaps. Labels upgrade is happening real soon! Most Restocks and new soaps will get vinyl water proof labels.

Soooo, when I received my new shipment of soaps (3 new Mallard scents, another Angel and the unscented lamb), I took the tops off of the Mallard scents and smelled each one and determined that Kulfi was my least favorite from an initial smell test. Loved the other 2 and used them first to confirm my love of them. Boy was I wrong about Kulfi. Used it this morning and upon lathering this soap, the scent changes drastically in to one of the best smelling soaps I have ever used. Just WOW!! Of course the lather was incredible during and post Shave feel. I actually pulled out my Blackbird OC and loaded it with a PolSilver blade because I had not used it in a while after getting the Sabre L1 and L2. The cushioning of Mo’s soaps is perfect for razors like the Blackbird that have a lot of blade feel. Absolutely incredible shave this morning and used one of my Markus Herber brushes with an Elite Razors HMW knot in it and I had to stop at 15-20 seconds of loading because I had that much soap. The post shave feel and smell today is just wonderful, as always!! Thanks for constantly renewing my faith in the wet shaving industry and continuing to innovate every time you do a new soap and scent!!

Actually....the development, manufacturing and marketing of unique and well-executed scents in a variety of very innovative and well-performing bases is the essence of an excellent corporate and branding strategy. His innovative and unique blend of whimsical and cutting edge graphics are an ideal visual representation of his strategic direction and product offerings. They also serve to strongly differentiate him in what is basically a very staid and quite boring category in terms of visual and product creativity. His products and approach are not for everyone...and that is a positive. It’s the essence of a very successful market segmentation strategy...an approach which is critical for a new player in an established market to build, succeed and prosper.

I suspect label designs is similar to fragrances and scents, people differ greatly in what they like. I have gotten more compliments on the labels design than complaints or criticisms. I design all my labels and my fragrances, that's not going to change any time soon.

BoarderPhreak I think you would be even less happy with my designs had I used some of the artworks I post on this other Instagram account of mine Smile
