I used to think that if I ever opened a soap company that I'd do my absolute best to provide excellent customer service but with all of the whining and complaining I'm seeing on this forum as well as others I'd want to seriously rethink it.

I think I'd now take the stance of the Soup Nazi on Sienfeld.

If you complain about anything or gave me any grief then it would be "No soup for you".

Instead of soup it's soap. Mohammad could be the Soap Nazi , "No soap for you".

It's not like Mohammad has any shortage of customers, or any trouble selling out of his soaps, so the ones that whine and complain aren't really needed all that much. If an order was placed by someone who's a constant complainer then I'd kindly refund their money with a polite "No thank you" message.

I think that's an interesting idea. And it certainly something he might want to consider. And I will probably not buy from him directly again due to all of the problems I've encountered.

If I do want his soap in the future, I will happily buy from one of the numerous reliable retailers that he now provides his soap to. And I highly suggest that most everybody else consider this option as well. That way, you will know that what you're buying is actually ready to be sent to you.

One of the great reasons that these forums exist is so that when there are problems, we can all Let each other know. I'm certainly thankful for some of the scams I've been able to avoid as a result of participating here.

I don't for a moment think that Mohammad is a scam. But I do believe he is incompetent at business... specifically his.

I as a buyer has no inkling how things work in real for these artisans. It's very easy to point gaps at others without getting into their shoes. I am sure we all keep missing deadlines in our personal /professional lives but that doesn't mean we should not go on further, feel disappointed and begrudge.

I am on another forum wherein I ranted about a prominent soap maker and the Gentleman in all his humility sent me a personal mail on the goof up and also replied on the forum.

I was not expecting a friendly reply at all but on the contrary it was all in all a very balanced and realistic reply. Unintentional mistake. I felt awkward on my way of settling the issue but I had panicked.

May be this particular artisan MO needs to take extra margin while announcing future release dates. I would as a customer wait till the soap is actually launched before placing an order (prebooking). Other than that , I don't think I have earned the right to tell anyone how to run his /her business....

The framing here is rather humorous.

"earned the right to tell someone how to run their business".

This is getting funny and definitely bordering on the area of shill.

To borrow liberally from a rather famous song, shillers gonna shill, shill, shill, shill, shill.

Nope, nobody can tell someone how to run their business. Well almost nobody. Merchant account providers can absolutely tell us how to run our business. And thinking it through, inspectors in the post office can also tell us how to run our business. Hmmm, actually, so many people can tell us how to run our business.

In reality, nobody is telling Mohammad how to run his business. Especially me. What we are saying is, stick to the word that you yourself give. That seems pretty much like common sense. And it is absolutely something a merchant account requires or you face being shut down.

So perhaps we can all stop the framing and nonsense and schilling and just get on with real life.

Real life is, Two Gentlemen make it agreement. They both stick to that agreement. Simple.

When one of them doesn't stick to the agreement over and over and over, it's nice to have a place like here they can let others know that the odds are this person will not stick to their agreements.

That isn't telling someone how to run their business. It's expecting them to be honorable and truthful. Big difference.

I suggest that those that love this soap, and that would be me included, enjoy it. I am not commenting on the wonderfulness of the soap. I'm commenting on the horrible business practices. And nobody can really disagree with that if they're honest. If I gave you the supporting information that I have, you would 100% agree with me.

It is not enough, in my opinion, to produce a good product. One also must have integrity in the way they run their business. And it is very clear to anyone who wants to take an honest look that there have been extreme problems with this one. Many, many people are very upset due to the way they were treated.

And yes, there appeared to be many shills who are willing to overlook the realities of what has happened. I will not.

And if I didn't keep getting nonsense for responses, I would have stopped writing. But forever isil that right some nonsensical thing about why it doesn't matter that Artisans or businesses here keep their word, I will respond.

Might be smarter to just simply enjoy your soap. Write about what wonderful soap it is. I will agree with you. And I will suggest that anybody who wants to buy this soap, buy it elsewhere from reputable vendors who you know and will keep their word.

Ok, so what I don't understand is why do people complain over and over again?

I suspect that the response would be something like what I pulled from the post above:

So posting complaints about Mohammad to inform other users and protect them from a scam when you don't think that he'd scam anyone. To me that doesn't make any sense. Why even bother then?

As far as the "incompetent at business" statement goes, you know what, you're probably right. We all know that he's figuring this out and he's shared his failures in an apology email to customers. The statement has been posted on the various shaving forums. So, I suspect that he knows that he's still learning and he's owned up to his mistakes. He knows he doesn't have everything figured out yet but he's trying to learn quickly.

So, why kick a guy when he's down for no reason whatsoever? What is it that people get from this?

In partaking in this hobby you will encounter many small businesses that don't have it completely figured out. It's not abnormal at all. Some of these businesses will recover and be successful, while others will fail. It's like anything else in life. However, I tend to want to see everyone do well as opposed to complaining in an effort to see them all fail.

I want to see Mohammad, as well as many other small businesses making the really great products, succeed. I know that he doesn't have all of the answers and that he's learning as he goes. I'm sure he's not going to get everything perfect going forward but I know that he's trying to. So, in doing business with him I may have to exercise a little patience and understanding while he gets it all figured out and I'm completely fine with that.

I think we've heard both sides long enough. Mohammad is still learning the ropes and will probably make more mistakes. You can either buy his soaps or don't buy his soaps.

Let's end the bickering and talk about something much cooler; like the March release of my favorite scent, Lime, in the lovely vegan base. Smile

If you wonder why I would write this, I guess I would have to wonder why you are writing. She'll much?

I'm writing, because it's real. I'm writing because it's fair. I'm writing because I feel like I got screwed. And I'm also writing because I feel it's fair others know.

That is not kicking someone when they are down. That is simply presenting the facts and letting people make their own minds up.

Kicking someone when they are down would, for me, be more like contacting their merchant account and having them shut down. And I have not done that nor would I want to do that. But when someone lies to me directly, repeatedly, I will not allow it to continue. I will respond.

So my question to you is, why not just go enjoy the soap? I've said my piece. But for every she'll type response I see, I will in fact respond.

Where I think we are in agreement is about the quality of this soap. It's good. Top tier. I do intend to investigate others and will report my findings. But one of the first things that I'm now doing after this really bad numerous experiences with this artist in, is check to be sure that the people I will be buying from are honorable. Meaning... they will ship as promised and they are not selling air but actually have the product in stock, made, and ready to sell.

I wish we could all get back to talking about the soaps instead of having to deal with these several paragraph long write ups on how things should be. If you don’t like it, don’t buy it and move on. C’mon guys, let’s get back to talking about and reviewing the product!
