I have not talked about Angle. It's my most complicated scent. I used 40 fragrance compounds + 7 essential oils in it. It's loosely inspired by Amouage Jubilation XXV. The lamb tallow is definitely interesting and does create a slightly different type of lather from beef tallow, it's bubblier but the lather is somewhat silkier.

Chypre Conifère is another big deal soap. The scent is quite different for me. I'm finally delving into Conifers and will be making several aftershaves with them. The donkey milk does make a difference. I personally feel the vegan-base+donkey-milk and the beef tallow base are now on par in terms of performance. There will be more donkey milk soaps in non-tallow base for sure Smile

That was a very tough launch. I'm sorry for the delays. Moving forward, I won't launch more than 4 soaps at a time. The soaps will be ready to ship once I start accepting orders, even if I have to keep shifting the launch date Smile I won't compromise on firm delivery dates, and will ship within 48 hours from receiving launch orders.

Used Angel yesterday and Chypre Conifère and don't know how Mohammad does it, but the soaps keep getting better and better. Angel is a wonderful soap and the aroma on this one is my favorite of the bunch so far. For me, even though I had to rush my shave as I woke up late, the lather quality and pre/post shave feel is 2nd only to Mallard. Today had severe nasal blockage so difficulty pickup up an aroma but the faint aroma I did pick up was quite nice and again superb lather and pre/post shave feel. Going to put back into the rotation early next week when hopefully, my cold is gone and I can truly enjoy these soaps. Going to check to see if Angel still in stock as I need to pickup another one, I really enjoyed the scent on this one.

GroomingDept I see in March and April you are releasing different citrus scents like orange, lemon, lime, grapefruit, etc. Will these scents be available in the tallow version?

Thanks for asking. They'll all be in the beef tallow base only.

Of the three I purchased, Chypre Conifère is the head of the pack. Really like it. It was a bit subdued when I opened the tub, but it came alive during my shave. Looking forward to using it again.

I've pretty much run out of superlatives for the Grooming Dept soaps, but I have to say Mohammad has once again outdone himself. I shaved today with the Amber & Oud, with a very sharp, extra hollow straight razor, and not only was the shave exceptionally smooth, but the post shave was simply the best. I could not bring myself to use any after shave product, neither splash nor balm. It felt that good. Hours later, my skin still feels smooth, soft, nourished.

With my favorite Italian non-tallow soaps, XPEC, SMN, Adp, etc., I find myself wanting a little more moisture and protected feeling in the post. With the best of the tallow soaps, Barrister, L&L, etc. I find myself wishing for a slightly lighter feeling post shave. This formulation from Grooming Dept hits a sweet spot that feels protective but not heavy. Superb-and based on the comments above, I'm looking forward to shaving with the Chypre and the Angel.

I absolutely love this post Shave feel from GD. My skin is still feeling soft after shaving with Angel today and I am so excited to shave with Chypre Saturday morning. I moved my tub of Angel to the top spot on my GD row in my soap drawer. After that is Mallard, After the Fire, Aether and on and on. Basique in at the top of my Vegan formulas and then Magnolia, Nero, Conca, etc. I just emptied out all of my Shannon’s soaps to make more room for the 3 makers that I’m sticking with...GD, Wholly Kaw and CRSW Glide and CRSW (until they have more Glide scents). Think I might order a couple more GD tubs depending on what’s left. Wish more people would post about Flight. That’s the one I was torn between with Wonderland and Wonderland won.

That is exactly my conclusion although I have yet to use Grooming Dept (nor Wholly Kaw Donkey Milk) with a straight for fear of reduced cushion and glide yet longing for the postshave the US conterparts provide. Perhaps I need man up and try it this weekend....

I'm not Mohammed, but I own flight and LOVE it. It's so rich and complex, yet hits home in a very comforting, familiar, although unexpected manner. I'll admit when I first read the scent notes when this was listed in the "upcoming release" section, I was a bit perplexed. I couldnt imagine how this could be a pleasant scent. But, over time I have come to trust mohammed to make it work, and work well. Often I will order something that doesn't sound like something I would like, only to discover that once again, the scent not only works, but works exceedingly well. This selection required a similar leap of faith and yeah, I was richly rewarded.

Off the puck its a fairly obvious new car leather scent, but underneath is some notes that make it much more complex and interesting. It when the brush and water hit the soap that it really springs to life. The strongest first impression is the earthy smell of a tomato leaf, then comes the sage followed by the leather smell that you get off the dry puck. I'm not a very good writer, or one that can explain exactly what it is I smell, but this scent is amazing. Its a terrific play on the brain to smell something so familiar as a sort of a new leather scent, only to have it bloom, change and become so much more complex and interesting as you lather.

Personally I think it may be his best scent yet, and I keep catching whiffs of it even now, 6 hours after shaving. Needless to say the only thing that would make it better is an after shave to top it off :-) ahem...

Hope this helps!
