The reason I haven't used a few of them more is simply because we come to find some things that make up more comfortable during a shave and I tend to stick with a select few. Anyways, I will throw it out there that I would probably enjoy a non perfumed soap IF it was offered. Not that I don't like the scents but it tends to be something that can get in the way from me using something quickly and more frequently.

Is this tallow formula firmer than previous soaps after curing?

Thanks for your interest. I hope you get to try this soap base. I took everything I learned from the vegan base, and the duck fat base and put int into this formula.

There will be an unscented version of the beef tallow soap. It's called Tacit.

GroomingDept Have the scent notes been finalized for "Chypre conifère" yet? Am curious as to how your Donkey Milk base compares to WhollyKaw's. Thanks!

They have, I'll list them out in the next few days. WhollyKaw makes an amazing soap.

I started to think about donkey milk when I saw that a gentleman's daughter was making a soap with donkey milk for a school project I contacted him and found out that the milk comes from a donkey farm in Minnesota.

My attempt here is out of curiosity and I think the soap is unique and stands on it own. But, this is going to be a super limited release, and I'm not sure if I'll do it again. The milk requires freezing to keep it usable. My freezer is full of duck fat Smile I'm using the milk in the vegan base as a drop-in replacement for the coconut milk.

Freezer full of duck fat?!? I like the way you think! Happy2

Definitely looking forward to the 10th -- still trying to decide on which ones to get. Decisions, decisions.

I was mightily impressed with my first experience with the first (vegetal) iteration of the GroomingDept soap and it immediately became one of my most favorite soaps. With his new soap bases coming out very regularly and his fantastic customer service Mohammad made it very clear that he is an exceptionally talented and committed artist and craftsman.

I would also like to say that Larry of the CRSW is an excellent soap maker as well and his customer service is exemplary. I tried the three scents of the Glide version and can confidently say that his latest formula absolutely  deserves those accolades that george1906 refers. I would say that if it were not for the people like Larry and Mohammad, our wet shaving community would be much less exciting.

As a matter of fact the GroomingDept and CRSW soaps hold an absolute first place  among more than 200 soaps and creams according to my experience and the number of each of their soaps that I have collected so far.

My respect goes to both Mohammad and Larry.

Couldn't agree more.

The Grooming Department non-tallows are in a league of their own. I've found that Glide, based on only a couple of shaves, is a wonderful product, the softest croap or the hardest cream I've ever used.  Mohammad's reaction on this thread to the mention of a competing product is as gracious and smart as can be, and one of the reasons aside from the fantastic soaps that it's such a pleasure to support him. Looking forward to the new tallow base from GD.

This is a great time for wet shaving soaps thanks to the efforts of gentlemen like Mohammad and Larry.

I can't begin to explain how impressed I am with Mohammad. I couldn't get my first two soaps from Grooming Dept, both vegan, to lather properly. I then joined a pass-around with two of the tallow soaps from GD, hoping I would do better with the tallow. I loved both of the tallows in the pass-around. I then retried my two vegan soaps, and still couldn't get them to lather. I then posted my praise for the tallows, while acknowledging my likely technique failure with the vegan soaps, without complaint.

I then heard from a brother on this forum, stating that Mohammad had read of my vegan soap travails on the other forum (where Mohammad is apparently not a member) and wanted me to email Mohammad. I did, simply acknowledging I likely had technique problems with the vegan soaps, while re-asserting my pleasure with the tallow soap pass-around. I also mentioned that the tallow experience was so impressive, I immediately ordered a tub of Mallard. Which I love.

Mohammad wrote back immediately, expressing regret that my first two soaps didn't meet my needs, and offering to send me two new vegan soaps to replace the two that didn't work for me. (Those two "non-functioning" soaps I PIF'd to another gent on this forum, who says the soaps work fine for him--again, my technique, I suspect...) After some thought, I accepted his offer, and he sent me two new vegan soaps, which I received today, and wouldn't even let me pay postage.

I haven't tried my two new soaps yet, but they smell great and, most importantly, I'm ecstatic about Mohammad's customer service. I look forward to buying him drinks when he next visits Seattle. I'm counting on it, Mohammad!

Mohammed’s customer service skills are as good as his soap making skills.

As you probably have guessed by now. I love to experiment, learn and try new products. I got this product and it's hella interesting Smile I used in a batch of soap, and it really does create a very cool slick film-like layer. You really don't feel it. It has many interesting characteristics.
