I too was absolutely blown away by the performance of "Soap". (as one could conclude from my review) I too gave it another try again today and again, ***amazing***! It confirmed, for me, that this is the best soap base I have used to date, period! Can't wait for more Janus Vegan releases to come!. That said, it won't preclude me from purchasing GD's other bases as well. I have not found one I dislike...

I prefer citrus forward Barbershop scents over the powdery versions. Barbershop scents usually come either citrus or powdery forward.

Ah, not that you mention it. It does make sense.
I have B+M Seville and I still struggle to see how it's considered a barbershop scent. So cheers for the info. I've always related the type of scent to a smooth powdery accord.

Definitely interested in this Vegan base though.
Clubman to me is the ultimate in the powdery vein. Mike's BS along with Maggards London BS are more citrus forward to me. Seville is in the middle of both. Stirling BS I find closer to powdery and MLS Kraken is much more citrus forward category.

I have been waiting for a proper scent in the new vegan base and a Colonia style Italian Barbershop will do just fine. I could not bring myself to buying the plain "Soap" offering.

You would be very surprised the soap really smells good

Barbershop scents vary so much from maker to maker that I am not sure exactly what one is supposed to really smell like.

I think it's supposed to be a Colonia type scent

Just got an email stating that the big release.(originally scheduled for tomorrow 'April 17th') has be postponed until the 29th.
Reason being, is that he needs to make sure everything is ready to ship right away.

The barbershop vegan soap will be the only available release tomorrow.

Used today for the first time Coattails Redux. It is indeed a completely different scent than the initial Coattails, this one smells like a mix of rubber and leather, while in the initial release the notes of saffron and clove were prevailing( at least to my nose ). The first version seems lighter in comparison to this one, while Redux is 100% heavy duty. Off the puck, there's not much of a resemblance between the two versions but when lathered, one can distinguish some related individual notes that link one version to the other.

Redux's consistency is harder, I remember when first using Coattails I overloaded it because it had a creamy consistency and I loaded too much. Redux is harder and can be loaded like any GD soap without the fear of overloading. The lather is quite different too, Redux lathers similar to the Primus base( sticky, gluey lather ), while the first Coattails has a creamier, waxier lather that has the tendency to thicken up quicker. Performance wise, both are fantastic, it's hard to tell after only one use which one is better, I can only say that Redux seems to have a better post shave feel. I'll use tomorrow the original Coattails to see whether I can spot any performance related differences and report back.
Redux can be paired with any leather based cologne, SMN Peau D'Espagne is the one that came to my mind when first smelling it.

Congratulations to Mohammad for another successful release! Cheers!

New vegan Barbershop soap is live. I just ordered mine.
