I am looking for some opinions/input based on experience for GD newly released Rejuvenating Serum. My question is how pronounced is the scent of the scented versions and how does is play with the scent of the soap used? Does the RS scent linger at all? Interfere with an AS?

Thanks in advance!

I asked a similar question the other day and have not seen a response (or maybe i missed it): https://damnfineshave.com/thread-groomin...#pid243807

I decided to order anyway since the only way to really know is to try it out myself. In any case, I will reply here to let you know my experience once received. I'll post my thoughts after I've tried it out.

I have the Lavender, Vetiver, and Mandarin & Cardamom and honestly I can barely detect a scent from them from the bottle let alone on my face. The Lavender is probably the most pronounced. I don't use it with an AS as I'm not a big fan of too many products/too long a routine. It does just fine on its own in my opinion.

Thank you for the input. I am starting to favor weaker scent strength aftershaves or at least ones that are short lived. This should also allow the residual scent of the soap to come through. Strong, long lived scents are what EDT and EDP are for, in my opinion anyway.

Thank you for piping up! Glad to hear from someone who using the product!

I will definitely order a scented version of the RS when the next soap release happens.

No problem! I hope its helpful. Also, I didn't realize this but it really makes a world of difference to apply it to a wet face. I had applied it to my dry face and it initially felt pretty oily, almost a vegetable-oil type consistency. It would absorb pretty quickly so it wasn't that big a deal. This morning I applied it to my wet face and it was perfect. I tend to like AS balms with thicker consistency and this really worked for me.

So would a serum bee a replacement for a balm?

I prefer a balm post shave even if I use a splash. I have the rejuvenating serum and today was shave one with it. I’ll let you know after a week or so with it.

Thank you gregcss!  I look forward to your thoughts.

I received the RS in vetiver scent today and have the following comments:

1) Comes in a nice glass bottle with equally nice cap. There is a flow restricter that limits the flow to one drop at a time. It was slow going but that was likely due to sitting outside in 30F degrees and I used it shortly after bringing it inside.

2) I used a few drops on both sides of a wet face, even put a few drops of water on the fingers after adding a few drops of the oil. The serum absorbed quite well and quickly into the skin. The face feels nice and soft after applying and did not feel or look oily. There is zero stickiness or tackiness.

3) About two hours later and much of the same. Face feels soft, no stickiness or tackiness, and does not look oily. To the touch it does not feel oily but there is a bit of shine on my fingers after rubbing my face. I am a night shaver during the week so we'll see if this gets transferred to a pillow. Right now this is not a problem, just an observation.

4)The scent is mild. After applying it is noticeable when moving around but sitting at a desk reading DFS I dont smell too much of it. The scent dissipates completely after and hour or so. I like these scent qualities in the serum.

Overall, I recommend giving it a try. One bottle will likely last a long time.
