The streaming services recently grouped all of my favourite gritty British crime dramas behind a pay wall and call it Brit Box. I’m going to have to bite the bullet and cough up the $8.99/month because much of the other content is crap.

Loved Shetland. Jimmy Perez is great.

Shetland was good, I agree. If it's reasonable enough, I just tend to bite the bullet and get an annual subscription instead of the constant monthly bills. It also saves a bit of money in the long term. That's what I did with BritBox.

Currently, I am paying too much, as my wife and I are deciding whether or not to ditch satellite service and only pay for streaming services. It's the stuff behind the pay walls that we're enjoying more than what is in our satellite package.

Eric, I cut the cord several years ago and have never regretted it.  I have quite a few streaming services that I pay for and it could be said that I'm paying almost as much as I was for cable (though I'm not so sure about that).  However, as you have noted, there is a lot on cable that I have no interest in.  For example, my interest in sports is nil so why should I have to pay for something like ESPN, which is one of the most expensive channels for cable companies to add to their lineups.  If I get a streaming service and find I don't watch it enough then it's easy enough to cancel without taking out the rest of the services I enjoy.  I did that with Disney+.  A surprise streaming service for me has been Apple TV+.  I have seen so many excellent shows on it, including CODA, this year's Academy Award winner for best picture.  Best of all is the lack of commercials.  Try watching the news on live television.  It's almost impossible for the commercials.  It's easier to get the news from my computer.  Nope, I don't regret cutting the cord, at all. Big Grin

Thanks Freddy, that is what I like to hear! In fact, I think I read something like this from you a while back, but my little gray cells are on vacation!

It's possible I have stated this elsewhere but I cannot remember.  If so then it's quite obvious I haven't changed my opinion. Big Grin
