The Gillette Heritage is likely aimed at both enthusiasts and the Christmas gift market. Christmas gifts are also a huge part of Art of Shaving's sales. Go by one of their stores after Thanksgiving and you will see lots of women buying gift sets for their beaus. The DE89 / R89 head works well for newbies and experienced wetshavers alike, and so is a good choice.
Gillette is probably testing the waters with the Heritage razor, thus the limited distribution and release. If it proves popular enough, they could well make it a year around item or release similar limited edition items each Christmas. If anyone likes the razor, it would be a good idea to encourage Gillette by sending them a complimentary email.
