They added a case. Does it matter if it’s an R89 head if it’s geared at the shaver wanting to dip their feet into wetshaving? It would be the same if all they did was re-release a slim which most people have.
I take it for what it is, to break in people new to traditional wetshaving with a tried and true head (R89). But unless you measure a blade gap between Gillette and R89 you will only know for sure.
Also, this gives the veteran a chance to get a case if they want one. Either way it’s positive.

I'm going to buy 1 regardless of who is 'making it'. I'll stick it in my shaving bin and let it sit there for a while. maybe gift it to a family member later in life or see if it'll fetch a little bit of coin! either way, it's hard to pass it up at $35..
