Preparing for tomorrow’s dome shave, I broke out my Gillette OT Big Fellow dated to the fourth quarter of 1920. I always used to enjoyed shaving my face with this razor and only used it on my dome three or more years ago. I now face shave with a straight.

I have really enjoyed this razor and much prefer it to the smaller OT’s in my den.
Looking forward to my dome shave tomorrow morning.

I’d be interested in any of our resident Gillette expert’s thoughts if they’d care to share.[Image: ojR3DxG.jpeg][Image: 3aJWXe8.jpeg]

Lovely kit, Dave! I have few vintage DE OR SE razors in their original cases. Your Big Fellow is very nice. It looks like an early military model. Have you dated it?

My eyes can't make out the stamped date code, never worried about it. You're going to get me going thru my vintage razors again. I think Thursday will be my Executive Set.

Razor: 1921 Big Fellow
Blade: Wizamet
Brush: Graydog "Quilt"/Synthetic
Soap: Gillette Shave Cream
AS : Witch Hazel + CFG Ghos Town Barber
Fragrance:
Consecutive Daily Shaves - # 2,303

So what was throwing me off when I looked at the date stamp was not making out the 1st letter but I realized it starts with a number and ends with a letter. The 7 stamps starts with a "7" and ends with an "A" so early 1921. 1921 = 1A - 863912A on the chart. My apologies for the rushed and blurry photo....

No problem, Dave, mine dates from the year after my maternal grandparent's married.  It’s pretty neat to be shaving with a 105 yr old razor!
